Damp Season awarded Grand Prize of the JIFF; the call for WIP Projects in Project Pitches enters the final countdown stage

On June 1, good news about Damp Season, a feature film honored with the “Excellent WorkingInProcess (WIP) Project” for the Project Pitches at the 9th Beijing International Film Film (BJIFF), came again. The film was awarded the Grand Prize in the International Competition at the 21st Jeonju International Film Festival (JIFF).

Damp Season, with Pema Tseden and Geng Jun as executive producers, is the effort of Director Liu Gaoming exploring the feature film category for the first time following his documentary paigu.

Damp Season tells the story about everyday life of two boys and two girls in southern China at the end of spring and at the beginning of summer. They acted like almost strangers, but have a secret infatuation for each other. The delicacy of complex emotions captured by the camera, many metaphors in the expression, and intoxicated and damp atmosphere shrouded at all times bring a unique aura to the film.

Since its premiere in the Bright Future Competition at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) in January 2020, the film has received a lot of praise. In May, Screen International, an international specialized film magazine, released a piece of good news to confirm the distribution of Damp Season in the French-speaking region.

The BJIFF Project Pitches provides necessary incubation and support services such as financing, production, and promotion for projects at different stages, and builds a platform for cooperation between filmmakers and the market. The WIP is aimed at serving the interaction and communication between projects and the post-production, promotion and distribution markets. It is committed to providing practical resource integration services for the projects whose production has begun, and helping make it easier for the film to be brought to the audience.

The BJIFF Project Pitches “is not designed to define the type, but only look for the cream of the crop and the best stories”.  Come with your story, and we are waiting for you in Beijing!
