For movie fans, there is no issue that can’t be solved by watching one film. If there is, just watching two.
The Beijing Film Panorama every year has become a tacit promise between the Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) and movie fans. As the slogan goes, “everyone can watch the best films from around the world in Beijing”, it has brought numerous fans into a carnival of light and shadow.
The passion of fans can be evidenced by the speedy ticket-grabbing.
Within just 10 minutes right after ticketing, 72% of the tickets have been sold out. The tickets to the classics including The Matrix trilogy, Cinema Paradiso, and Apocalypse Now were sold out as soon as the ticketing started. Those to the home-made masterpieces such as All About ING and Like the Dyer’s Hand were also very much in demand and sold out very early.
According to the data, over 60% of the ticket-grabbers are female, and those aged over 20 are the core demographic. In terms of constellation, top 5 are Scorpio, Libra, Leo, Cancer and Pisces.
As for geographical distribution, movie fans outside Beijing mainly came from Shanghai, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou. The three screening districts most favored by Beijing fans are Haidian District, Chaoyang District, and Xicheng District. Therefore, next year, fans who failed to grab a ticket this time, should choose cinemas in other districts.
