Call For Entry: The 12th Beijing International Film Festival
The 12th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) will be held in Beijing in April, 2022. The Organizing Committee of BJIFF excitingly invites filmmakers and international film companies to recommend excellent films to participate in the Tiantan Award Competition Section, Forward Future Competition Section, Beijing Film Panorama Section and Science & Technology Section.
 
Details of each section and registration instructions are as follows:
 
Tiantan Award Competition Section
 
Tiantan Award is the official competition section of the BJIFF. Its aim is to discover and present recent outstanding films from across the globe, and encourage diversity in cinema. Tiantan Award each year comprises a total of 13-17 shortlisted films. During the festival, a seven-member jury will watch the shortlisted films and select the films and filmmakers to be awarded in ten categories. Nikita Mikhalkov, John Woo, Billy August, Wong Kar Wai, Gong Li and other heavyweights have led the international jury.
 
Tiantan Award includes 10 awards. The winners of these awards will be announced during the Closing & Awards Ceremony.
 
The feature-length films that meet the following conditions are eligible for Tiantan Award Competition Section:
Film that has been completed in the country of origin after January 1st, 2021. 
The minimum running time is 70 minutes. 
Format: DCP
 
Forward Future Competition Section
 
Forward Future Section is established aiming to discover fresh filmmakers, hunt for the future trends of global film industry, encourage the spirits of innovation in film making and display a culture diversity of film art. The Section will finally present seven awards, including The Most Popular Feature Film, The Most Popular Director, The Most Popular Screenplay, The Most Popular Actor, The Most Popular Actress, The Most Popular Artistic Contribution and Special Jury Prize.
 
The feature-length films that meet the following conditions are eligible for Forward Future Competition Section:
Film that has been completed in the country of origin after January 1st, 2021.
The minimum running time is 70 minutes
Director’s first or second feature-length film
Format: DCP
 
Beijing Film Panorama Section
 
Films featured at Beijing Film Panorama of the 12th BJIFF will be screened throughout theaters in Beijing in April, 2022. As one of the core events in BJIFF, Beijing Film Panorama will screen excellent works from all over the world. It will build a platform of observation, discussion, learning, and exchange for filmmakers and fans throughout the world, exhibiting a fascinating diverse culture.
 
Films that meet the following conditions are eligible for Beijing Film Panorama Section:
Feature films, animation films, documentary films and VR works that has been completed in the country of origin after January 1st, 2021.
The minimum running time is 60 minutes
Feature films, animation films, documentary films’ format: DCP
VR works should meet the following conditions: unlimited running time; format should be 360 video, VR stand up and VR installation. AR、MR and other immersive work are also included in the selection; work equipments include HTC Vive, HTC Focus, Oculus Go, Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, SONY Playstation, Pico Neo, HP Reverb and the other AR, MR headsets.
 
Science & Technology Section
 
Films should be about popularize scientific & technological knowledge, spread scientific thought and advocate the scientific spirit. Such as aerospace, artificial intelligence (AI), space & oceans exploration, humanistic history, prehistoric exploration, environmental protection, animal & plant life protection and science fiction films.
 
 
Films that meet the following conditions are eligible for Science & Technology Section:
Giant screen film with the length from 20 minutes to 50 minutes; 2D/3D.
Dome film with the length from 20 minutes to 50 minutes; 2D; resolution not less than 4K; copy format should be PNG sequence frames or 20 Channels MKV video file.
4D film with the length from 10 minutes to 20 minutes; 3D; Film contents should include special effects like frog, rain, snow, wind, lightning, smell and bubble and other environmental effects.
Documentary with the length from 20 minutes to 90 minutes; 2D/3D.
Science Fiction Film, short version with the length from 4 minutes to 40 minutes; long version with the length from 40 minutes to 120 minutes; 2D/3D.
 
 
World premieres or international premieres are given priority. No fee will be charged for films submission. Registrants should be the producers or distributors of the film, who are responsible for the copyright of the registered films, its related prints, and other rights.
