Jury of Final Round of Project Pitches is Announced, and Cao Baoping is Appointed Jury President
Renowned director, writer and producer Cao Baoping has been appointed Jury President of the Project Pitches of the Beijing Film Market, 11th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF). Meanwhile, prestigious director, writer and executive producer Yu Baimei, and famous producer and presenter Zhao Fang (Gillian Zhao) will attend the road show of the final round of the Project Pitches held on September 23, 2021 as Jury members, and review and select winning projects.

Cao Baoping
Director, writer, producer
Cao Baoping is known as a "film star maker" for directing many films starring actors/actresses that have won major awards at domestic and international film festivals. His essential works include The Dead End, Cock and Bull, The Equation of Love and Death, and Einstein & Einstein. He’s won Best Director at 18th Shanghai International Film Festival, Best Film at 33rd People’s Hundred Flowers Awards, and Best New Director at 56th San Sebastián International Film Festival. He was named a Jury member of the competition section of the 9th BJIFF, and the competition section of the 20th Shanghai International Film Festival. As a director of realistic subjects, Cao focuses his works on human behavior and motivation under extreme circumstances, and he is always committed to in-depth exploration of humanity.

Yu Baimei
Director, writer, executive producer
Yu Baimei’s representative directorial efforts include My People, My Homeland, Looking Up, Devil and Angel, and The Breakup Guru. In 2014, The Breakup Guru written and directed by him was released; in 2015, Devil and Angel written and directed by him was released; in 2017, Wolf Warriors 2 presented by him was released; in 2019, Looking Up written and directed by him was released; in 2021, he was one of the writers of the My People, My Parents.
 
In addition, he’s been engaged in playwriting since 2000, and his works include Internet Addict’s Diary, A Family in the Northeast, Idler Ms. Ma, A Family in Xi’an, The Neighborhood, Unrivaled Jack-of-all-trades, Dinner Party, A Love Story in Yan’an, and The Weird Family.

Zhao Fang (Gillian Zhao)
Producer, presenter
Zhao Fang (Gillian Zhao) serves as President of Warner Bros. China. After joining Warner Bros. in August 2016, Zhao took the position as President of Warner Bros. China in general oversight of all the strategies and businesses of Warner Bros. in China, including film & TV business development, home entertainment, consumer goods, games, and emerging digital businesses. Prior to that, she served as Senior Assistant to the President of Wanda Cultural Industry Group and General Manager of Wanda Film and Television Media Co., Ltd., during which, she led the production of many hit films in China including Go Away Mr. Tumor and The Ghouls. Before then, she also held senior executive posts at Bona Film Group, Celestial Pictures and STAR Xing Kong.
 
On September 23, 2021, Jury members of the final round of the Project Pitches of the 11th BJIFF, including Cao Baoping (also the Jury President), Yu Baimei and Zhao Fang (Gillian Zhao) will review the 17 finalist projects in the road show, 10 out of which will be named the "Special Award", the "Best Original Script Award", "Projects with Greatest Commercial Potential" and the "Best Creativity Award", while the remaining 7 WIP projects will vie for the "Most Investment Value Project Award" and the "Team with Greatest Potential Award". Moreover, a market decision-making panel made up of 20 senior experts will review and select the winning project for the “Market Decision-making Panel’s Award”.
 
This year, the Motion Pictures Association (MPA) will continue in-depth cooperation with the Project Pitches, Beijing Film Market of the BJIFF. The 17 finalist projects in the road show will compete for the MPA Award and MPA APSA Award. Winners and excellent participants of the "MPA Workshop" held at major film festivals in Asia Pacific will be awarded with a field trip to Hollywood, the screening event held in Los Angeles, and opportunities to pitch its project to international production companies.
