About BJIFF

  The Beijing International Film Festival is held by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television and the Beijing Municipal Government, aiming to provide a platform for exchanges and transactions for domestic and overseas films.

  The first BJIFF is scheduled from April 23rd to 28th, 2011. It comprises six main events, including Inauguration Ceremony, Beijing Film Panorama, Film Magic•Beijing Forum, Beijing Film Marketing, Film Music Concert and Closing Ceremony.

  An International Event

  With a global perspective, the First Beijing International Film Festival will invite a number of famous directors, actors and figures from international film agencies, as well as chairmen of more than 10 noted film festivals in the world; The Film Music•Beijing Forum aims to become the wind vane of the global film industry; Exchanges of ideas at the dialogue between well-known Chinese and foreign directors will raise the level of film forums.; About 100 new films will be shown to display the charm of cultural diversity; Beijing Film Marketing will invite international film agencies and figures to Beijing for business negotiations. The international impact of the Beijing International Film Festival will constantly improved with these activities.

  An Open Event

  The First Beijing International Film Festival will highlight Beijing's role of the national cultural center of China and a modern international city. It will attract domestic and international film agencies with a variety of activities such as film shows, negotiations and forums. Film agencies especially private-funded ones are burgeoning in Beijing, which boasts the nation's highest density of play writers, directors, producers, actors and technicians. The film festival will bring together these resources and serve as a key window of exchanges and transactions for domestic and international films. The openness of the festival is also shown as the activities will open to members of the public. Tickets for film shows, film music concerts and forums will be sold to the public, and the organizing committee will show some digital films at schools, neighborhoods, barracks and construction sites, so that more people can enjoy achievements of the festival.

  An Innovative Event

  The First Beijing International Film Festival will focus on films shows, cultural exchanges and business transactions and explore ways to be different from other film festivals. The Film Magic•Beijing Forum, Film Music Concert, "See the World through Films" Contest for Best Documentary Short and Image Ambassadors Selection are special activities during the film festival, while Beijing College Student Film Festival, Beijing Youth Public Welfare Film Festival and China’s Ethnic minority languages film festival will add momentum to the Beijing International Film Festival. The Beijing International Film Festival will form its brand symbol and connotation through innovations.

  A Market-oriented Event

  With activities such as Beijing Film Marketing, the Beijing International Film Festival will provide a platform for domestic and overseas film agencies, investors and purchase agents to negotiate, cooperate, communicate and transact. It will promote also the transaction and negotiation of new ideas, plays, projects, technologies and other industry factors, with a market orientation. In addition, Beijing Film Panorama will invite overseas film buyers and film festival representatives to Beijing to watch and select Chinese films.
