Birth of Chinese Literary Film Plan “A.R.T.”Walking Past the Future Leads the List of Films in First Season

At 2:00 PM of April 17, the Cast and Crew of Walking Past the Future held the New Film Release Conference at Beijing Wanda Vista Hotel. Mr. Sun Xianghui, Curator of China Film Archive and Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Beijing International Film Festival, attended the Release Conference. The five film companies of Huaxia, Edko, Irresistible Films, Perfect Village and MaoYan announced the introduction of “Chinese Literary Film Plan A.R.T.” at the conference. A refers to Attitude, hoping that filmmakers always keep their passion on films and stay true to their original will. R refers to Reality, as the film art always originates in reality but goes beyond reality. T refers to Trend, as each leap in film industry is led by the wave of reform and innovation. Mr. Sun Xianghui showed affirmation of the role of “A.R.T. Literary Film Plan” in leading the wave of domestic literary films and expected that the “A.R.T. Literary Film Plan” would bring more diversified thinking and richer expressions to let the domestic literary films not only “walk past the future" but also “go into the future”.

As the first film screened for the A.R.T. Literary Program, Walking Past the Future, starring Yang Zishan and Yin Fang and directed by Li Ruijun, will take the lead to be screened on May 17. Walking Past the Future uses bright and poetic footages to illustrate the real difficulties of foreigners in the city of two generations. Yang Zishan and Yin Fang played the role of two strangers wandering in a foreign land.

The director of Walking Past the Future Li Ruijun has directed the high-quality literary films such as The Old Donkey, Fly With The Crane and River Road, and won several awards at the international film festivals including the Venice International Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival and Tokyo International Film Festival.

At the New Film Release Conference, Director Li Ruijun shared the background story of the film with reporters and fans: Yin Fang used to personally experience the morning peak of Beijing Metro to look for inspirations on roles and then wrote a biography of nearly 10,000 Chinese characters. When shooting, he even appeared on camera without makeup, and specifically kept the acne on his face, only to portray the role more realistically. Yang Zishan, in order to get close to the state of illness in the film, insisted on eating 50 days of poached cabbage besides no makeup. She has lost a total of ten kilos from the shooting to completion.
