BJIFF with You through the Great 2021
Entering 2022, the Project Pitches of the Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) plans to write a new story following a successful chapter in 2021. On this great occasion, we would like to share to you the remarkable achievements we made with young filmmakers and industry peers in 2021. 
2021 
In March, Summer Blur, the “Best Original Script Award” winner at the 8th BJFIF Project Pitches, was awarded the Best Film at the 71st Berlin International Film Festival, which was another international honor of the film following the 25th Busan International Film Festival. 
In April, Umbilical Cord (or Wandering on the Blue Prairie) the “Special Award” winner at the 10th BJIFF Project Pitches started shooting at Hulun Buir, Inner Mongolia. The film is directed by Cao Yu, a famous photographer, supervised by Yao Chen, a famous actress, and written by Qiao Sixue, a young director. 
In April, Our Secrets, the “Outstanding Pitching Project” of the 9th BJIFF started shooting in Chongqing. 
In June, the 11th BJIFF Project Pitches attracted 839 projects, hitting a record high. 
In September, the final-round road show of the 11th BJIFF Project Pitches was held, during which Jury members of the final round of the Project Pitches of the 11th BJIFF, including Cao Baoping (also the Jury President), Yu Baimei and Zhao Fang (Gillian Zhao), reviewed the 17 finalist projects, and attended the award ceremony. The pitching projects Get Better Day by Day and Chivalrous Women's Office, and the WIP projects One and Four and Another Town were granted bonus and resource service awards. 
In September, the 1st BJIFF TALENTS supervised by director Chen Zhengdao successfully wrapped up, indicating that the Project Pitches became a new channel to seek and improve new filmmakers. A total of four short films were premiered at the event and also at the specific section of iQIYI. 
In October, the WIP project No Problem With Thought, winner of “Overseas Promotion Award” at the 10th BJIFF Project Pitches was shortlisted in the International Competition of the 37th Warsaw International Film Festival. The presenter of the film - The Seventh Art Pictures was successfully determined through the Project Pitches, and Liang Jing, famous producer and actress, was also invited to supervise the film production. 
In October, Uninvited Guest, winner of the “Team with Greatest Potential Award” at the 10th BJIFF Project Pitches, was shortlisted in the Forward Future Section of the 11th BJIFF and screened nationwide with great reputation. 
In November, the WIP project One and Four, winner of the "Most Investment Value Project Award” and “Most Marketable Award” at the 11th BJIFF Project Pitches, was shortlisted for the International Competition at the 34th Tokyo International Film Festival. The 24-year director, Jigme Trinley, was the youngest Chinese director that was selected among the International Competition of Tokyo International Film Festival since its establishment. 
In December, with the commencement of the application for the 12th Project Pitches, the pitching and WIP projects can be submitted online at the official website of the BJIFF (www.bjiff.com). Meanwhile, the BJIFF TALENTS for Chinese language film directors also started enlisting. 
In December, Run, Tiger Run!, winner of the “Overseas Promotion Award” at the 10th BJIFF Project Pitches will hit domestic screens on the Chinese New Year’s Day of 2022. 
In December, several winning projects including Get Better Day by Day, A Raging Rhino Ran Down Gulou Street That Night and When will you be back were shortlisted in the 3rd Golden Rooster Films Project Market, indicating a great recognition of their artistic and commercial potential.   
All are expected with the advent of the new year! In 2022, the BJIFF Project Pitches will make greater efforts to seek talented filmmakers and develop more excellent Chinese language films, and continue to focus on the ongoing projects under Project Pitches with intimate services. 
The application for the 12th BJIFF Project Pitches is now available at the official website of the BJIFF (www.bjiff.com). The deadline for pitching projects and WIP projects is March 7, 2022 and March 14, 2022, respectively. For more details, please visit the official website and official media of the BJIFF.
