The year 2025 marks both the 120th anniversary of Chinese cinema and the 15th anniversary of the Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF). The BJIFF is a major film event in China, guided by the China Film Administration and hosted by China Media Group and People's Government of Beijing Municipality. It serves as a key platform for Chinese cinema to go global and for international exchange and cooperation in the film industry.
To discover and support creative talent in animation within the energy and power industry, and to build a platform for professional exchanges and for the exhibition of works, the Game-Based Animated Films Section of the 15th BJIFF has partnered with China Energy Media Group Co., Ltd. to co-organize the 2025 “Energy China · Outstanding Animated Works” Theme Competition. The call for entries is open to those within the energy industry, with China Energy Media Group Co., Ltd. overseeing the entire event. The competition seeks to use animation as a medium to expand the reach of energy-themed animation works. These submissions are intended to offer a comprehensive and multidimensional portrayal of the industry's new practices and achievements in high-quality development, while reflecting its people-centered philosophy and its contributions to economic and social progress.

The Jury brings together accomplished experts and scholars from China's animation industry and academia. Evaluating submissions from both academic and commercial perspectives, the Jury ensures authority across professional expertise, artistic attainments, and the potential for industrial development. The review will be conducted from April 4 to 16, 2025, based solely on the quality of the entries, adhering to the principles of openness, fairness, and impartiality. Meanwhile, from April 10 to 16, a public review channel will also be available via the Energy China app. A total of 60 shortlisted animation works will be selected from all submissions. These entries will receive official certificates of shortlisting and be included in a National Touring Exhibition. Final results will be announced at the “15th BJIFF Game-Based Animated Films Section Ceremonies” on April 19, 2025, and simultaneously released via BJIFF's official WeChat account and official Weibo account.
