As the late spring drizzle arrived as promised upon the banks of Yanqi Lake, the thousand-year charm of the ancient waters intertwined with the galaxy of the silver screen, painting a romantic backdrop for this cinematic extravaganza. On April 16, the opening entrance ceremony of the 16th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) was held at Beijing Yanqi Lake International Convention & Exhibition Center. This year's ceremony brought together a prestigious lineup of top filmmakers from home and abroad, as the core creators of dozens of acclaimed annual masterpieces gathered to honor this romantic rendezvous between a millennial cultural legacy and the art of film.
The opening entrance ceremony was inspired by the azure ripples of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, with "Canal Blue" designated as the exclusive primary color. The main passage extended like the canal's shimmering waters, while the display walls on both sides were interwoven with canal wave textures and cinematic symbols. Filmmakers and guests walked upon the light, their steps appearing as if they were gliding across the waves.
