Opening Ceremony of Beijing Film Market—Capital Film Talent Night Successfully Held at 12th BJIFF!
The Beijing Film Market Opening Ceremony—Capital Film Talent Night for the 12th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) was held at the Beijing Yanqi Lake International Conference Center on August 16. The event was attended by relevant leaders, including Wang Jiequn, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau, Zhang Pimin, Chairman of the China Film Foundation , Han Fanghai, Class-II Counsel of the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, Yan Xiaoming, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the China Film Foundation, Chen Ning, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Executive Vice Chairman of the Beijing Federation of Literary & Art Circles, Liu Kaiyang, member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the Beijing Federation of Literary & Art Circles, Yang Shujian, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Bank of Beijing, and Cui Yan, Executive Deputy Director of the BJIFF Organizing Committee Office, as well as experts and scholars and representatives of leading companies in the film industry. In addition, they were joined by representatives of cultural officials from the ASEAN-China Centre, the Thai Embassy in China, and the Philippine Embassy in China.
Mr. Han Fanghai said in his speech that Beijing attaches great importance to the cultivation of film talents by launching related policies and building mechanisms and platforms. Under the guidance of the government and the concerted efforts of all sectors of society, intelligence-driven enhancement projects are being implemented to build Beijing into a new hub for gathering film talents.
Ms. Wang Jiequn pointed out that with the rapid development of information technology and changes in media, and under the guidance and support of national policies for the development of the cultural industry, China’s online movies are becoming a crucial part of the movie industry. As the competent authority of the industry, the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau will faithfully put into practice the plans and requirements of the central government and the People’s Government of Beijing and the municipal committee, work to present people with high-quality films, and make efforts to promote the high-quality development of online literature and arts.
  
Mr. Liu Kaiyang stated that as a bridge and bond connecting the Party and the government with film workers in the capital, the Beijing Federation of Literary & Art Circles and the Beijing Film Association fully play their functional roles and work to engage, unite and tap more outstanding young and middle-aged film talents, foster a pipeline of responsible and inspiring film talents of faith, and provide a fertile artistic ground for those in the capital, where they can further broaden their horizons, explore the nature of industry development at a deeper level, and upskill themselves more efficiently.
Mr. Yang Shujian noted in his speech that under the guidance and care of the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, the Beijing Municipal Film Administration, the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau, the Beijing Federation of Literary & Art Circles, and other relevant departments, film companies and workers in the capital are seeing more extensive development platforms and enjoying a favorable creative environment. As the recurrent outbreaks of the pandemic currently pose a great challenge to the development of the film industry, all sectors of the society should gather their efforts and move ahead together to provide solider intellectual support for Beijing to build itself into a core area of the film power. The Bank of Beijing will continue to strengthen its mission as one of the capital’s financial institutions, boost innovation in both the capital’s film industry and film talent services, deepen multi-party cooperation, and make every effort to lift the development of the capital’s film talents to a new level.
  
At the event, relevant leaders from the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, the Beijing Municipal Film Administration, the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau, the Beijing Federation of Literary & Art Circles, the Beijing Film Association, the BJIFF Organizing Committee, and the Bank of Beijing jointly launched the “Financial Support Program for Capital Film Talents”. With this financial service plan, the Bank of Beijing fully integrates the government, trade associations, industry funds, venture capital institutions, and other resources. Targeting film talents with a competitive advantage and high growth potential, it takes measures on six fronts to ensure the delivery of financial services, namely, “credit aid, capital assistance, expert guidance, industry connection, talent services, and market promotion”.
  
Following the launch, leaders from multiple departments took the stage and inaugurated the Beijing Film Industry Joint Base set up in the Cultural Maker Center, Bank of Beijing. With the help of the resource platform of the Cultural Maker Center, the base will provide one-stop financial services in terms of financing, consulting, and guidance for capital film companies and talents, and establish a new model for government-bank cooperation, with a focus on the financial needs of the film industry.
  
At the event, the host announced that the famous director Huang Jianxin and the established screenwriter Shu Huan joined the Beijing Film Industry Joint Base as honorary mentors. The two mentors sent a deep message to young filmmakers, and said that they will carry forward the fine tradition of Chinese filmmakers in unity, progress, and dedication, and contribute to the growth and development of filmmakers.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Yan Xiaoming, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the China Film Foundation, and Mr. Yang Xianghua, President of Membership and Overseas Business Group of iQIYI, Inc. delivered speeches respectively. Mr. Zhang Pimin unveiled a plaque to celebrate the establishment of the China Film Foundation Film Fund for Online Movies.
