Selected for the Market Screening at the 11th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF), the film garnered widespread attention and praise from industry guests during its screening at the festival. The film tells the story of Qin Fen (played by Ning Huanyu), who leaves his hometown to raise money for a wedding dowry but inadvertently falls into a pyramid scheme trap. He struggles to survive amidst violence and brainwashing, while desperately concealing the truth to protect his love. Meanwhile, his girlfriend Li Hailang (played by Li Jiaxin) is forced to break up due to her mother's death threat, forcing her to choose painfully between societal expectations and genuine emotions. Through its dual narrative, the film offers a profound exploration of the dilemmas and choices contemporary young people face when confronting the realities of love and marriage.
