Academic Parallel Session on Production and Market –The Evolution of Chinese Animation Industry Successfully Held at the 9th BJIFF

  On the morning of April 18th BJT, Academic Parallel Session on Production and Market – The Evolution of Chinese Animation Industry took place at the Academic Lecture Hall of the School of Animation and Digital Arts, Communication University of China (CUC). The forum was hosted by the School of Animation and Digital Arts, Communication University of China (CUC) and the Digital Media Art Committee of the Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art, organized by the Japan-China Cultural Industry Exchange Association, and organized by Zhuoran Zhongtai Technology Co., Ltd. Liao Xiangzhong, President of the CUC; Sun Xianghui, Director of the China Film Art Research Center (CFARC); and Peng Sihai, Deputy Party Secretary of Beijing TV Station (BTV) attended the forum. Among other leaders and experts present, Kozo Morishita, President of Toei Animation Co., Ltd.; Su Da, Head of Shanghai Animation Film Studios; Li Zhen, Associate Director at CFARC; Yang Lei, Vice President of Rocen; director Liu Kuo; Huang Jiakang, Director of White Snake; Huang Weiming, Father of Pleasant Goat; Jin Cheng, Partner of Hongtai Capital Holdings; Dong Zhiling, Founder of Face White; Yu Zhou, Co-founder of Light Chaser Animation and Zhang Jin, CEO of Joy Pictures. With a focus on the development and evolution of China's animation & cartoon industry and the mutual energizing of culture, teaching research and industry, the parallel session aimed to further explore the original resources of Chinese film and animation & cartoon culture, and boost the international and professional development of China's film and cartoon & animation industries.

  In recent years, the state has offered strong support to the animation industry, and China's animation industry has entered a rapid period, continued to improve in creation and kept producing outstanding works. Facing the rosy prospect of China's animation industry, animation educators, animation researchers and animation practitioners need to make clear the relations between "production and market" in order to grasp opportunities. To this end, the forum aimed to explore a path for the mutual energizing of production and industrialization, reorganize the relations between universities and the industry, and pool strength to build a system for the industrialized development of Chinese animations.

  The parallel session brought together over 200 leading experts and scholars at home and abroad. Through “Talk to Masters”, “Keynote Speeches of Industrial Experts”, “Sharing of Creation Experience by Domestic Young Animation Makers” and “Industry Elite Roundtable”, it probed into the development direction of China's animation industry, and integrated theory, academics, market and industry to achieve the goal of escorting the market through outstanding creations and guiding industrial development through talent training.
