A "coward" can be a "hero"? Comedy Coward Hero to appear at Opening Ceremony of BJIFF

The comedy has always been an important genre of domestic commercial films popular with domestic viewers.

Five comedies (Detective Chinatown II, The Mermaid, Dying to Survive, Hello Mr. Billionaire, Monster Hunt) were among the top 10 box office earners in the Chinese mainland.
Minor character comedies discovering humor, helplessness and a bittersweet life from trivia are extraordinarily soul-stirring.
This genre will naturally not be absent from the Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF).
At the Opening Ceremony of BJIFF 2019, the crew and cast of new comedy Coward Hero will appear, including director Shu Huan, stars Yue Yunpeng, Tian Yu, Yuan Hong, Han Tongsheng and Cai Ming, as well as Guo Shoubao, Chairman of Suobao Group (producer) and Guo Xiaoqiao, Chairman of Suobao Film.

The film, set in Shanghai in the 1930s, stars talented actors and actresses like Yue Yunpeng, Tong Liya, Tian Yu, Yuan Hong, Han Tongsheng, Cai Ming, Liu Wei, Yu Qian, Da Peng, Lei Jiayin, Yu Yang, Hua Shao, Sun Yue and Xing Jiadong.
In the film, they put on clothes of the Republic of China. The sense of the times and the sense of humor produced special sparks. Yue Yunpeng in a vest and Cai Ming in a cheongsam were hilarious.

Every one of them could make viewers laugh with different skills. The effect of appearing together is more anticipated.
Yue Yunpeng played Yan Dahai, a hooligan of Qinglong Gang. Destiny made a fool of him. He, with a weak sense of presence, found himself terminally ill and became a cop by accident. To buy the freedom of a dancing girl named Du Qing (Tong Liya), he vied to perform the most dangerous tasks to sacrifice his life for death benefits.

Yan Dahai's superior (Han Tongsheng), another cop (Yuan Hong) and gangsters (Tian Yu, Da Peng, Lei Jiayin) brawled, delivering a string of jokes.
In the film, helpless minor characters went with the tide, provoking an illogical string of jokes. In laughter and joy, they grew up and made strong comebacks.
Apart from the actors and actresses, the creators behind the scenes are also worth expectation.
The film was directed by Shu Huan and Shao Dan.
As the screenwriter, Shu wrote screenplays for comedy hits like Call for Love (2007), Lost in Thailand (2012) and Lost in Hong Kong. The total box office earnings of his works have topped 5.2 billion yuan. Coward Hero is his directorial debut.
How Shu good at comedy creation presents a story written by him as a director to cause laughter is much anticipated, too.

Shu Huan, a famous screenwriter and the director of Coward Hero
Co-director Shao Dan started as a photographer. His Sky Lovers was nominated for the Golden Horse Award for Best Cinematography; his Mother was nominated for the Golden Rooster Award for Best Cinematographer and his Bangzi Melody won the award. Shu and Shao make a perfect match of story and picture. In a complementary way, they presented the wonder of light and shadow as directors.
