As the 14th BJIFF Officially Opens, iQIYI, Exclusive Partner for the Online BJIFF, is Generous with Events for Fans
The most generous film festival for fans is finally coming!
The 14th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) is open on April 18. The Online BJIFF, jointly organized by iQIYI and BJIFF, is officially launched at the same time. As the Official Exclusive Online HD Video Platform and Exclusive Online BJIFF Partner of the 14th BJIFF, iQIYI has prepared a series of events, such as online exhibition, well-chosen selection, live streaming and offline interview, to further enrich surprises for fans.
Under the theme of “Enlightened by Films, United as One”, the 14th BJIFF continues to bring the international, professional, people-oriented and promotional event to next level, and maximize its role as an international exchange platform in the development of Beijing into a film and television highland. The BJIFF consists of more than 100 activities and events under major sections of the Competition Section, Tiantan Award, Forward Future Section, Beijing Film Panorama, Beijing Film Market, Film Carnival, Beijing College Student Film Festival, and Closing & Awards Ceremony. This year, iQIYI is presenting a well-chosen selection of 87 outstanding Chinese and foreign films in diversified genres of war, comedy, science fiction, action, crime, suspense, youth, inspiring, child, etc. through the online screening. In addition to screening, iQIYI has adopted a series of measures to support the festival, including live streaming of the entire Opening & Closing Ceremonies, Red Carpet and other important events, exclusive offline screenings for fans, iQIYI’s Red Carpet Interview Studio, and iQIYI reporting group for the Red Carpet, and deliver first-hand information and immersive vibe to the audience.
Jiang Qinqin, Zhang Jin and Xie Miao are appointed as Star Promoters of the Online BJIFF, and they are promoting 8 excellent films, such as Eye for an Eye, Fight Against Evil, SPL 2: A Time for Consequences, Master Z: Ip Man Legacy, The Door and Who is Undercover, to the audience. As for the selection, the Online BJIFF is comprised of 11 spectacular subsections, namely the First Perspective, South American Style · Brazil, Action Master, French Romance, Star Promoters, Beijing International Sports Film Week, Beijing Ethnic Film Festival, Chinese Influence · Film Festival Star, Chinese Influence · Classics, Chinese Influence · Youth, and Virtual Reality · Trend.
The First Perspective aims to present foreign culture and traditions to the audience at first hand, including latest films from Germany, Canada, Israel, and Belgium, such as The Lost Children, The City, With Love and a Major Organ, What the Finn?! – Summer of Surprises, A Road to A Village, and How I Got There. The French Romance introduces French masterpieces notable for French romance and critical thinking, such as Close, winner of the Grand Prix winner at the 75th Festival de Cannes and nominee for the 95th Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, critically acclaimed Triangle of Sadness by Ruben Östlund, winner of Golden Palm at the 75th Festival de Cannes, and classics, including The Chorus, Love Me If You Dare, The Pianist and Léon: The Professional. Three Chinese Influence subsections are comprised of representative films by the fifth-generation Chinese directors at their different stages, including Yellow Earth, Ju Dou, The Black Cannon Incident, King of the Children, Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles, Sacrifice, The Battle At Lake Changjin II, and Snipers, through which the audience can have a clear idea about the development course of Chinese cinema, and witness exciting highlights of Chinese films. The Virtual Reality · Trend is also highly anticipated as it includes Blade Runner 2049, a remarkable sequel and perfect embodiment of Denis Villeneuve’s aesthetics, Alita: Battle Angel, a wasteland punk masterpiece produced by James Cameron, and AI-themed M3GAN and Upgrade by renowned director James Wan and Leigh Whannell respectively. The audience sure will binge watching the subsection.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Brazil diplomatic ties in 2024, Brazil is appointed as the Guest of Honor of the 14th BJIFF. The Online BJIFF specially presents two films by Brazilian directors, namely The Traitor and Where Has the Time Gone, the former of which won the Golden Palm at the 72nd Festival de Cannes and other awards while the latter won the Special Jury Award in the Golden Silk Road Media Honor section at the 4th Silk Road International Film Festival.
