The year 2025 marks the 120th anniversary of Chinese cinema and the 15th anniversary of Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF). As the youngest of the seven major arts, film seems to be facing great transformation unseen in a century as well. As an important part of the BJIFF, the Game-Based Animated Films Section has thrived since its launch in 2020, pioneering a path that integrates e-sports, games, animation and film for common prosperity and creation.
The Game-Based Animated Films Section has always been committed to promoting the integrated development of games, animation, and films, fully showcasing the unique charm emanating from their fusion, boosting cross-industry collaboration, supporting the progress of the animation industry, and advocating firm cultural confidence. Through a series of activities, it emphasizes the role of culture in benefiting and educating the people, increases public engagement and encourages the residents to participate in these activities with a healthy, positive and proactive attitude. These initiatives aim at boosting public involvement and sense of fulfillment, enriching the spiritual and cultural life of the masses, providing them with a brand-new entertainment experience.

Previous Guest Lineup of BJIFF Game-Based Animated Films Section
As one of Beijing's most internationally influential annual cultural events, the BJIFF shoulders new cultural mission, which aligns perfectly with Xicheng District's firm commitment to promoting a “Strong Cultural District” strategy. For the first time, the 15th BJIFF Game-Based Animated Films Section will enter Xicheng District, opening a new chapter for the section in collaboration with the “End of River” cultural IP system. As the core functional area of the capital city, Xicheng District boasts abundant traditional cultural resources. Leveraging its strengths in animation, cultural creative design, and related fields, the BJIFF will sort out the cultural assets of Xicheng District, extract iconic elements, and creatively transform traditional culture, thereby providing new opportunities and platforms for creating high-quality “End of River” cultural IP.
This year's activities include the Exquisite Appreciation Events, namely “Selection of Animated Short Films and Comics”, E-Sports Celebration for Filmmakers, “End of River” School-Enterprise Cultural Seminar, Ceremonies, Everlasting BJIFF on Campus Series, etc. These activities are committed to creating a cultural feast that is both professional and accessible to the public, leveraging celebrity resources to drive the public to participate in cross-border camps, and bringing more innovation and breakthroughs to the game, animation, and film industries.
In the future, the Game-Based Animated Films Section will continue to give full play to the role of a platform, constantly gathering new talents, and leading the way of dreams for young people who are passionate about e-sports, animation, and movies. By telling compelling Chinese stories and making China's voice heard, the section aims to promote domestic animation to the international market through a variety of exciting activities, and further enhance artistic and cultural confidence.
The Game-Based Animated Films Section looks forward to working with everyone to explore this new field full of unlimited possibilities. Together, we will witness the transformation and evolution of this section, and presenting you with a boundary-breaking fusion feast of cinematic art.
