Honor Ceremony of the 13th BJIFF Short Video Section Held in Beijing
On April 27, the Honor Ceremony of the 13th BJIFF Short Video Section, hosted by the BJIFF Organizing Committee and the Communication University of China, co-hosted by China News Service, was held at the Communication University of China. The excellent short videos for five categories of news, entertainment, creativity, knowledge and life, the best videos in the special sections of "Beautiful China" and "Rural Revitalization”, the "Most Followed Short Play of the Year" and other awards were grandly announced on the site.

With the theme of "Culture and Civilization in Short Videos", the 13th BJIFF Short Video Section focuses on international cutting-edge creation of short videos to demonstrate the new ecology of international film and television development featured with “joint video creation and sharing”. The 13th BJIFF Short Video Section received a total of 3,053 short videos from China, the United Kingdom, France, Hungary, Spain, Lebanon, Iran, Germany, the United States and other countries and regions. After three rounds of reviews, a total of 120 outstanding works were selected. 
The video titled Reality Check: CGTN Reporter Drives Across Highways in Europe to Dispel the Lies of “A Dead End" and "Debt Trap” Hyped by Foreign Media won the award of First-class Creative Work in News Category. Wang Guan, a host and chief reporter of CGTN, one of the cast & crew, said in his acceptance speech that it is one of the missions for a reporter and a journalist to reveal the truth and tell Chinese stories on the international stage so that China's voice can be clearly heard.

The short video creators from all over the world gathered together to witness the reveal of honors that night. It is worth mentioning that the "Rural Revitalization" and "Beautiful China" sections are specially added to the 13th BJIFF Short Video Section. The creators adopt small scenes and big visions to display the outstanding achievements in the construction of “Beautiful China” and the implementation of "Rural Revitalization" strategy. They use cameras to record the hard-working laborers, the rapid development and changes of the countryside as well as the beautiful scenes and harmonious coexistence of green waters and mountains. Deng Bowen, one of the cast & crew of New National Highway 219, the winner of Best Work in "Beautiful China" Section, said that when he came to Xinjiang for an internship many years ago, he was greatly moved by the beautiful rivers and mountains. At that time, he made a wish to shoot a film in Xinjiang. "On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, we hope the National Highway 219, a world-class landscape, can help more people enjoy the great rivers and mountains in China. It is our responsibility to spread the beautiful and excellent culture."

In 2022, the 12th BJIFF joined hands with the Communication University of China to set up a Short Video Section for the first time, intending to encourage more outstanding creators to access to the "track" of mainstream international film festivals and transform from "viewers" to active creators recording good life and telling Chinese stories. The BJIFF Short Video Section encourages creators to adopt new technologies and platforms to focus on the real life, capture the moving moments in daily life, create a rich and three-dimensional image of Chinese culture, display the Chinese style in the new era, and create excellent short videos that are insightful, grounded in the reality and epochal. 
Other guests attending this grand ceremony included Zheng Yang, President of magazine Popular Movies, Lu Yajun, Dean of Bilibili Institute of Public Policy, Zhu Liqing, Director of BRTV Movie Channel, Leng Yefu, a famous director, Jury President of Chinese Dream Youth Video Competition, Executive Chairman of International Micro-Film Festival for University Students, Gao Sai, Deputy Chief Editor of gmw.cn and Executive Director of the China Netcasting Services Association (CNSA) and Sun Bing, CEO of Hivideo. 
China News Service and its matrix account conducted livestream of the whole ceremony. Six major video platforms such as iQiyi, Migu, Tencent, Kuaishou, Youku and Bilibili also conducted simultaneous livestream.
