On the morning of April 27, the 13th BJIFF Samsung Mobile Short Film Forum was successfully held. High-profile panelists including Cui Yan, Executive Deputy Director of the BJIFF Organizing Committee Office, Zhu Huilong, famous producer, Lin Mingjie, famous producer/director of development at the Alibaba Pictures, and Peng Fei, famous young director presented and jointly announced the honors of this forum, and discussed how mobile film can promote diversified creation of young directors.

The roundtable forum focused on the mobile filmmaking and innovation in mobile filming technology. The three jury members first affirmed the significance of the short film to young directors, and then discussed how young directors use mobile phones to create.

Producer Zhu Huilong believes that short films are a touchstone for young directors, but the ability of young directors should be judged comprehensively. Lin Mingjie, director of development at the Alibaba Pictures, believes that it is a good way for young filmmakers to make short films, and Samsung Mobile provides a good opportunity for directors this time. Young director Peng Fei shared his creative growth and change from short film to feature film. Ma Heliang, curator of the Samsung Mobile Short Film Forum, discussed from the perspective of the curation of the film festival, shared how to choose a director and what aspects should be paid attention to, and analyzed the reasons why Sci-Fi and genre films dominate.

Next, the panelists elaborated the changes brought by the transformation of mobile phone image to the creation of short film in respect of Samsung Galaxy S23 series used in the shooting of the SAMSUNG Mobile Short Film Forum and the film effect. Participating directors Liu Xiaoli, Ma Guyuan and Xia Meng also shared their feelings about Samsung's camera technology based on their own filming process. They all agreed that the dark light shooting function of Samsung Galaxy S23 series exceeded everyone's expectations.

At the forum, senior filmmakers discussed the future development of young directors. Zhu Huilong suggested that the method of mobile film shooting could be combined with the film festival's support and creation incubation for young directors; According to the needs of the commercial film market, Lin Mingjie believes that the criteria for selecting young directors and creators should be more imaginative and interesting. In view of the current film market and the booming trend of streaming media and short videos, Peng Fei put forward suggestions based on his own thinking. Ma Heliang suggested that young directors' creations should be brought into line with the industry faster through film festivals.
