The 13th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) works with Samsung, once again, to launch the Samsung Mobile Short Film Unit, bringing together outstanding young Chinese-language directors to embark on a dream journey to film creation, with the newly launched Samsung Galaxy S23 series as a shooting tool.

It is reported that the newly launched Samsung Galaxy S23 models come with an enhanced ultra night photography system, with a professional bokeh effect that brings three-dimensional portraits at night, as deep-seated and detailed as those shot by a DSLR camera. The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra offers a wide-angle camera that features 200MP to enhance the film look of mobile phone images. This year’s Samsung Mobile Short Film Unit positions its theme as “Splendor to be Discovered”, encouraging young directors to capture the changes in light and shade with a Samsung phone, frame their wonderful imaginations in the creation of mobile short films, and explore new boundaries of image creation. 

 

Into its 13th year, the BJIFF was founded in 2011, and it has now evolved into a crucial pillar in the ecosystem of world cinema and a vital enabler for film creation, film market development, and film industrial revolution in film production in China, leading the cinema of China to new heights and infusing the global film industry with spiritual drivers. It focuses on supporting young filmmakers, increasing personnel employment, and advancing the further integration of the industry chain, capital chain, and talent chain, thus providing a constant input of endogenous power for the development of the cinema of China. 

The Samsung Mobile Short Film Unit was launched in 2021, when the new short film creation model and the new image wave of Samsung Galaxy series phones, combined with the imagination and creativity of young Chinese video creators, made it one of the highlights of the BJIFF. The award-winning works in this unit gained wide attention and acclaim at the Online BJIFF—Panorama, and were recommended to other international film festival platforms to get much attention. 

The 13th BJIFF, in collaboration with Samsung Galaxy S23 series phones, launches the Samsung Mobile Short Film Unit once again. The visionary international platform embraces every young filmmaker with whimsical ideas, encouraging them to combine film aesthetics with scientific and technological innovation and continuously explore new dimensions of video creation.
