Founded in 2011, the Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) is about to be held for the 13th consecutive year. It has become an indispensable force in the world's film ecology, and a key driving force for China’s film creation, market development and the film industrialization system, helping the Chinese film industry reach new heights and provide a new impetus for global cinema. It focuses on supporting young filmmakers, promoting the deep integration of the industrial chain, fund chain and talent chain, and constantly injecting endogenous forces to the development of Chinese films. The 13th BJIFF will join hands with A.R.T. again to focus on the Forward Future section, gathering excellent young directors and fostering new forces for the world's film industry.

The Forward Future section of the BJIFF, which was set up in 2014, is designed to “discover new filmmakers around the globe in China’s view and encourage originals on the new wave of films in the world”. It strives to highlight the cultural connotations of films in various forms, and boost the exchange and communication among young filmmakers all over the world. All the first or second feature films by global directors are welcomed for the “Forward Future” section regardless of genre, type or style.

All world-renowned film directors began their careers as a newcomer to films. At the very first day of career, every director tries to tell their own stories instead of depicting the world, just starting from their first feature film, and then the second and the third and so on. With the growing skills and maturing style, they could write down the most fascinating chapter of their own.

While the Forward Future section encourages innovation, A.R.T., based on its pursuit of art and innovation, has also been dedicated to bringing the beautiful life to every corner of the world, from diverse product styles to craftsmanship.
