Philippe Muyl is a well-known French director, scriptwriter and producer. His first feature L’Arbre sous la mer won Best Cinematography Award of San Sebastian International Film Festival and was in the Out-of-Competition Section of Berlin International Film Festival. His second feature Cuisine et dépendances was a huge hit. In 1999, Philippe Muyl’s La Vache et le Président, a film for the children, won the highest honor of Moscow Youth Film Festival and was a candidate in Shanghai International Film Festival. In 2002, he shot Le Papillon, a blockbuster both in France and in the whole world that not only swept a wealth of awards in various major international film festivals, but was also highly spoken of by Chinese film fans. Besides, his musical Magique, microfilm Red Apple that calls for environmental protection and the China-France co-production The Nightingale are all extensively acclaimed.
