The launch ceremony of “The Best In Wo?Film Carnival” of the 4th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) was held in the China Millennium Monument on April 16, 2014. Ms. Hou Yulan, Vice Chairman of the 4th BJIFF Organizing Committee and Deputy Secretary-General of the Beijing Municipal Government, and Ellis, President of the Asia-Pacific Region for the Motion Picture Association of America, respectively addressed the ceremony. And the event was jointly launched by Ms. Hou Yulan, Mr. Ellis, Zhang Fan, Vice President of China United Network Communications Corporation Limited, Wang Jue, associate inspector of Publicity Department of Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, Wang Liping, Vice Secretary-General of the 4th BJIFF Organizing Committee, Zeng Hui, Vice Director of Office of the 4th BJIFF Organizing Committee and Creativity & Planning Director of Beijing Gehua Cultural Development Group. Later, leaders and guests attending the opening ceremony visited the Classical World Animated Games Zone, Film Restoration Technology Exhibition Zone, and exhibitions of the special effects makeup, forley recording and visual effects production in the Film & Technology Exhibition Zone at the site of Film Carnival. Dozens of media and hundreds of spectators were present at the ceremony.

  At 13:00-14:30 on the afternoon of April 16, 2014, Depp’s fans played his representative roles on the site of the 4th BJIFF Film Carnival, including Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean, Edward Scissorhands, Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland, etc. They also offered mysterious gifts from Transcendence, bringing the event to a climax.

  The Cute Sneezing Baby Panda Hits the Film Carnival

  At 14:30-15:30 on the afternoon of April 16, a mockup of the panda, the leading role from the film Sneezing Baby Panda, came to the central stage and played four interesting games with the audience, livening up the atmosphere on site. In the Special Effects Makeup Zone of the Carnival, the professional makeup artist for the Sneezing Baby Panda, dressed the audience up for free in the panda style that will probably be highly popular this summer.

  Meet-the-cartoon-star

  At 15:30 on the afternoon of April 16, 2014, main characters from Seer and Legend of the Moles, animated films that are familiar to kids, appeared at the Film Carnival in the China Millennium Monument. They either posed in a typical way of the handsome Ray from Seer, or dressed like the lovely Mo Lele from the Legend of the Moles, shaking hands with participating adults and kids. They also paraded on the site and had photos taken with visitors.

  The Film Carnival will last eight days from April 16 to 23, and will feature diversified exhibitions, entertainment activities, on-site screening and interactive shows, etc.
