  Date: 10:00-18:00, April 16th to April 23rd, 2014

Venue: South Square of China Millennium Monument and Yuyuantan Park

Through reorientation, the 4th BJIFF Best In Wo ? Film Carnival serves as an external market to the Beijing Film Market. By hosting a wide range of film-themed activities at South Square of China Millennium Monument (including Yuyuantan Park area), the Film Carnival aims to promote different film elements, thereby enhancing the public’s understanding of film culture, inspiring people’s passion for film, and fuelling the development of Beijing’s cultural and creative industries. The 2014 Film Carnival will be made up of three main sections, namely Film & Design, Film & Technology, and Film & Music. Various activities will be held, including a Film Reparation Technology Exhibition; events relating to interactive entertainment, special make-up, recording, and special effects; a film poster exhibition; and live concerts — resulting in an extraordinary Film Carnival experience for all!

  ? Film and Design Section

Design plays an important role in the film industry — not only in films themselves, but also in film-related products and the film market in general. This year’s Film Carnival will bring together many world-famous cartoon film characters, which, along with interactive installations and games, will imbue the Carnival with interaction, playfulness and fun. There will also be a retail area, allowing visitors to take home products they like. As a peripheral market to the Beijing Film Market, the 2014 Film Carnival will introduce a “theme park” concept to the venue.

  ? Film and Technology Section

Technology is a key element driving the development of the film industry. This year’s Film Carnival will reveal some of the secrets behind film technology and combine technological concepts with public interest. By simulating special shootings, revealing the secret to sound recordings, introducing live special make-up experiences, and holding a film reparation exhibition, the Carnival will give visitors a feel for the charm of films. Visitors will not only be able to learn more about technological methods in film production, but will also be able to experience life as actors and actresses! As a peripheral market to the Beijing Film Market, the 2014 Film Carnival will focus on “post-production and special effects techniques”, a very important “film factor”.

  ? Film and Music Section

Music, with its ability to touch audiences directly, is an indispensable element in the film industry. By screening music-themed films on outdoor screens and hosting live concerts, the Carnival will focus on the musical element in film and will bring an extra special atmosphere to the Carnival.

  ? Event Section

A multi-functional stage will be erected in South Square of China Millennium Monument. The stage will be equipped with a big screen for playing animations, micro films, trailers for films featured in the festival, and promotional videos from sponsors. There will also be film music concerts; “meet-the-director” and “meet-the-actor” events to meet the needs of the Beijing Film Market; new film launch events; film character promotions; and theme days.

  ? Sponsors’ Exhibition Section

As a thank you to Film Festival sponsors, and to attract more business activities to the Carnival, the venue will feature a special area in which sponsors can create opportunities for on-site interaction and display the professional capacity and influence of the Beijing Film Festival. As well, by working together with relevant film, television, media and communication agencies, the Film Carnival aims to achieve the successful integration of content and publicity.
