The Film Concert of the 6th Beijing International Film Festival

　　The World Movie Theme Song Concert and the World Classic Movie Song Concert of the 6th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) will come to the Cultural Palace Theatre of Beijing Performance & Art Group on April 22 and 23, 2016.

　　The Film Concert, first introduced in 2011, has been a highlight of BJIFF. With Beijing Performance & Art Group, BJIFF will present two original theme concerts in 2016. The World Movie Theme Song Concert will bring those classic themes songs back with affectionate performance; while the grand and magnificent World Classic Movie Song Concert reinterprets in symphony Hall-of-Fame works of soundtrack masters, delivering perfect experience to you.

　　The “Tribute to Film Musicians” program before the concert will welcome some famous musicians to meet the audience on the red carpet. Also movie music from generations of composers will be played to pay our tribute to these committed artists. The grand and special red-carpet walking comes as a climax of the BJIFF Film Concert.

　　The World Movie Theme Song Concert performs classic movie songs since 1940s, especially Chinese music. The focus is to highlight the history and achievements of Chinese films.

　　Drama movie, a typical type of China, has won its place in the world film history. Passages from The Story of Chun Lan & Dong Mei, the Best Drama Film of The People’s Hundred Flowers Awards and Golden Rooster Awards, were performed by Yu Lan, winner of Plum Blossom Prize and China Class I Actress; North Wind Blow of the film The White Haired Girl, winner of the Special Recognition Award at the 6th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, is a master work of Chinese film music and will be interpreted by the famous tenor Ding Yi and young singer Xu Jingjing; Yun Fei, also known as “Grassland Prince” and the runner-up for Avenue of Stars 2012, will sing Why The Flowers so Red of Visitor to the Ice Mountain awarded with Best Director of “Xiaobaihua Award” of Changchun Film Studio in 1964, and In That Distant Place of Springtime in a Small Town ranking 1st in the Top 100 Films by Hong Kong Film Awards.

　　Another highlight of the concert is theme music of classical foreign movies, including My Heart Will Go On (Titanic), Unchained Melody (Ghost) and Song of Straw Hat (Witness).

　　The concert also invites Mr. Zuo Hongyuan, a master in Taiwan pop music. As a famous music producer who has mentored singers like Teresa Teng and Feng Feifei, Zuo has had profound influence to the enlightenment and development of Chinese music, pop music in Chinese mainland especially, and made great contribution to exchanges of Asian pop music. At the concert, the “Faerie of Music” Annie Han Dai will sing master works of Zuo, including theme songs of Moon Fascinating Bird Sweet and The Young Ones, presenting you a feast for your ears.

　　Other music talents present at the concert include: Ma Fei, a young soprano who once won the Chinese Golden Bell Award for Music; Wu Chunyan, a soprano with Wenhua Excellent Performance Award of the 7th National Singing Competition by the Ministry of Culture of the PRC; Jin Shan, the winner of four gold awards at the Young Singers Competition; Chang Aifei, a young singer with the Screen Award of the 8th “Red Eagle” CCTV National Young Singers Competition; as well as the male trio composed of Guo Jianchao who won the First Prize of the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition, Sun Yushi, winner of the Gold Award of Singapore Lyric Opera Competition and Zhang Liang who won the Grand Prix at the 4th Ivan Alchevsky International Singing Competition Ukraine.

　　The World Classic Movie Song Concert will bring milestone songs of the world film history by a combination of symphony, instrumental solo, ensemble and other forms. Classics from famous Hollywood soundtrack masters like Hans Zimmer, John Williams, and Elmer Bernstein will be the focus. Also, inspired by science fiction films, the audience will enjoy “Future World” theme music. Technology is the powerhouse for social development, and the scenes in science fiction films always amaze us with their rich imagination and rapid evolution of technology. The “Future World” theme music will expose the surreal attraction of technology and science fiction film music to the audience. 

　　At the 6th BJIFF Film Concert, audience will indulge themselves in the passionate, affectionate performance of those classic film songs, adding to the wonder of the festival.
