Beijing Night in Cannes

　　In the evening of May 14, the fourth day of the 69th Cannes International Film Festival, the Organizing Committee of Beijing International Film Festival held "Beijing Night——Beijing International Film Festival Reception" at Cannes. Huang Pei, deputy director of the general office of Beijing International Film Festival Organizing Committee,Hou Guangming, Secretary of Beijing Film Academy Council, Miao Xiaotian, General Manager of China Film Co-production Corporation, Macr Nicholas, president of La FEMIS; the casts of The Last Race: Director Stephen Shin, Producer Li Cheng, Actors Joseph Fiennes and Shawn Dou, He Shiping, president of Emei Film Group, San Mu, publisher of the magazine Film View, and Zhao Xiaowen, president of Tang Dynasty Group, Philippe Muyl, French Director; and nearly 200 domestic and overseas representatives from Tokyo International Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival, Hong Kong InternationalFilm Festival, Unifrance, British Film Institute as well as many international film companies and organizations attended this event.

　　As an important cultural and business card of Beijing and even China, Beijing International Film Festival has been held successfully for six years. The 6th Beijing International Film Festival was held in Beijing, China from April 16 to 23, 2016. The Festival organized more than 340 activities with the participation of over 15,000 guests and industry insiders, and more than 300 Chinese and foreign film companies and organizations from over 50 countries and regions all over the world; more than 500 Chinese and foreign selected films were screened in over 1,000 sessions, attracting more than 220,000 audiences, hitting the box office with USD 1.53 million gross; more than 200 exhibitors participated Beijing Film Market, resulting in a total of more than USD 2.5 billion transaction, which consolidated its leading position in Asian film market; more than 1,600 journalist from nearly 300 medias made the coverage of the Festival.

　　Ms. Huang Pei, Deputy Director of the Organization Committee Office of Beijing International Film Festival first delivered a speech,saying, by taking the aim of "Share the Screen, Shape the Future" and adhering to the style of "Master, Mass, Market", Beijing International Film Festival is showing a strong development momentum through generous movie resource, active market trading, broader public participation, and has become the attraction of filmmakers worldwide. With the promotion of professionalstandard and expand of influence, it has become the bridge between China and the world. The rapid growth of Beijing International Film Festival is inseparable from the swift development of Chinesefilm industry in recent years. It is also benefited from Beijing as the center of Chinese film industry as well as the internal demands of resource gathering and exchange and cooperation of all sides in the world.

　　As Ms. Huang Pei revealed, the 7th Beijing International Film Festival will be held in April 2017. The Festival will have the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Beijing Film Panorama, Theme Forum, Film Market, Film Carnival and Awards, as well as Forward Future Section, Documentary Section, Film Concert, Film Salon and Industry Conversations and other related activities. The goal of the Organizing Committee is to highlight the services for filmmakers, film industry, and movie lovers in events and reflect professional, pragmatic and efficient in organization. The Festival iscommitted to bringing together the international excellent films, organizations and people to create a high-end, high-quality platform for showcasing, exchange, and constructing omni-directional, multi-level and wide-ranging pattern to promote the innovation and development of Beijing International Film Festival.

　　In the event, Joseph Fiennes, the famous British Actor gave a kite as the gift to Beijing International Film Festival on behalf of the casting of The Last Race in the hope that Beijing International Film Festival will make higher achievement as the kite. Ms. Huang Pei presented a colored glazed pendant as the gift to the casting of The Last Race on behalf of Beijing International Film Festival, wishing the film good luck and box-office. Shawn Dou, famous Chinese Actor, gave his best wishes to Beijing International Film Festival, hoping Beijing International Film Festival will be better and better in the future.
