   The opening ceremony of the 6th Beijing International Film Festival will be held at Beijing Yanqi Lake International Convention & Exhibition Center on April 16, 2016.

   Since six years ago when the first session of Beijing International Film Festival began, this festival has undergone a development track toward “Masters, Mass, and Market”, thus now boasting a bigger circle of friends, being noticed and remembered gradually by the public, and realizing more and more movie dreams. Today the Beijing International Film Festival has become a card of the cultural reputation of Beijing. Not only can the ceremony provide an opportunity for all the filmmakers throughout the world to establish mutual understanding and communications, but it also help to achieve communications and exchanges between Chinese films, Chinese culture & global films, and global cultures. Therefore, the 6th Beijing International Film Festival in 2016 will expect the unexpected and send an invitation to people all over the world—welcome to Beijing to watch the best movies in spring!

   David Wu, Xu Chunni, and Lan Yu are invited to host the opening ceremony where plenty of distinguished stars and friends will gather together. By then will come the famous international star, Oscar winner—Natalie Portman, who has grown up to be a worldwide popular beauty from the little girl in the famous film Léon, and Giuseppe Tornatore, famous Italian director with numerous fans, who directed films such as Nuovo Cinema Paradiso and The Legend of 1900.. Pop singers such as Eason Chan, Jane Zhang, and some new singers including Diamond (Zhang Bichen) will attend the event to perform a cross-border adventure between music and movies in a different way. The 11-year-old American child star Lexi Walker will sing her signature song—Let it Go (the theme song of the film Frozen) with a pop Chinese singer Allen Su. Thus this festival is a grand gathering of popular stars and singers. And other famous actors including Yao Chen (Chinese movie queen), Zhang Jingchu (Chinese national idol), Stephon Marbury, Lee MinHo (pop Korean Star),Wallace Chung, Hao Lei, Tiffany Tang, Charlie Yeung, etc. will also arrive to the grand opening.

   With the concept that “Inviting you to Beijing” as the theme, the opening ceremony will send invitations to the whole world on this grand and marvelous banquet—Welcome to Beijing to watch the best movies in spring!

   The grand opening will follow four parts, i.e. parts “to films”, “to Beijing”, “to times”, and “to audience”. With film narration and the stage full of stories as its creation principles, the opening event will combine song & dance performances with ritual ceremony and accomplish many processes including dramatic poses of seven judges and the film production team of the opening ceremony, the address of the chairman of the judge, and recommendation of 15 shortlisted film for the festival, etc. so as to express the respect for masters in film making, the thanks for audience, the memory of Beijing culture, the gratitude to the classics, and the wishes to the future of films!

Creative Interaction Facilitates Film Festival Carnival  

   The “Film Festival Carnival” with multidimensional perspectives sets off the atmosphere of the opening ceremony and changes the auditorium into the main stage through the combination of many performances including float performance, large props, dramatic acrobatics, and the dance by one hundred people. It also creates an atmosphere where all the people can have a wild and woolly time by many activities such as impersonating stars and lifting seat devices. Three actors, i.e. Zhang Yishan, Yang Zi, and Qixing Aixinjueluo[http://people.mtime.com/1249254/], together with other 120 dancers, will lead the audience to enjoy the joy of the Film Festival Carnival and show the whole world the enthusiasm of the Beijing International Film Festival.

   Meanwhile, during the grand opening, double screen interactions will be given for several times. The unique designs will encourage the live audience and television viewers to enjoy the joy of films together.

Dreamy Atmosphere Reproduces Nuovo Cinema Paradiso

   In the “to audience” part, Eason will tell a warm story full of memories on the stage and sing the song A Journey, through Time, with You to lead the audience into the film world.

   With the idea that “the accompany is the longest love confession” as the creative core, these programs will reproduce Nuovo Cinema Paradiso on the stage. We will find films are the ones that accompany us for longest time and that the accompany is the longest love confession once our memories are enlightened by many familiar classic movies including movies of Italy, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Beijing, such as Casablanca, Coming Home, La Vita è bella, etc.

Poetic Oriental World Reflects the Fairy Tale Frozen

   Based on classic poetry and traditional Chinese culture, the creative program called A Thousand Years Appears in a Moment will invite famous instrumentalists, dancers, masters of Tai Chi, and inheritors of intangible cultural heritage projects to show the audience splendid Chinese life, Chinese spirit, and Chinese dreams through the combination of instruments, dances, martial arts, acrobatics, and film elements!

   American child star Lexi Walker will perform the theme song of the film Frozen—Let it Go with a pop Chinese singer Allen Su on the fancy & extraordinary stage which is decorated with great pieces of ice. At the same time, a hundred children in ski-wear will stand on the stage full of ice and snow to send wishes to the 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games.
