Beijing Film Market of the 6th BJIFF Now Accepting Submissions For Project Pitches

 
 

   Beijing Film Market Project Pitches of the 6th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) will take place in Beijing International Hotel from 19thto 21st April, 2016.

   Based on the "Film Project Market", Beijing Film Market Project Pitches event of the 6th BJIFF is committed to building a platform that integrates investment, production, sales and distribution for film projects. The event will nurture high-quality film works with strong market potential by selecting outstanding film projects and enabling these projects to link up with the film industry. Furthermore, a number of films deemed to have the strongest potential will be selected by our jury of film professionals and academics, which will eventually become excellent works in line with the market demands through such procedures as training, evaluation, recommendation, negotiation and demonstration.

   The Beijing Film Market Project Pitches event of the 5th BJIFF was held successfully from 17 to 20 April, 2015. As an important carrier of the “Film Project Market”, which is one of the two large professional platforms of Beijing Film Market of BJIFF, the Project Pitches realized fruitful achievements after four days of training, roadshow, assessment and negotiations. The three final-round judges for Beijing Film Market Project Pitches event of BJIFF were Wang Xiaoshuai, a Chinese film director and screenwriter, Abe Kwong Man-Wai, Deputy General Manager of Wanda Pictures, and Andre Morgan, President of Ruddy Morgan Organization. The jury awarded one project with a “Special Award” and designated three projects as “Projects with Greatest Commercial Potential” from amongst the 10 shortlisted projects. These winning projects were granted international promotion & training and financial support. After two-day one-on-one negotiations, all of the finalists received wide industry attention.

As of November 2015, Last Love In Antarctica finished its location shooting at Antarctica, while Gate, Instant love, Age of Roses, and Mission to Steal Time plan to be shot in 2016. During the Market Screenings of Beijing Film Market of the 2016 BJIFF, opportunities will be provided to the excellent projects generated from the former “Film Project Market”

Requirements

       A completed screenplay that is ready for filming by the date of application, plus a 2000-word synopsis.

       Film projects that have yet to be filmed or to conclude fundraising activities.

       Priority consideration will be given to film projects that are not yet involved in any other film market or project pitching event.

       Film projects should not only display strong market potential, but also show potential for a future release in China.

       Film projects need to display commercial or artistic value, and the content of the film project must accord with accepted moral values.

       Film projects should boast high commercial or artistic values.

Awards

   The Beijing Film Market Project Pitches event of the 6th BJIFF will select one project with a “Special Award”, a “Project with Greatest Commercial Potential” , a “Project with Best Original Screenplay”, a “project with Best Creativity Award”. All winning film projects will be provided with appropriate support and rewards. All shortlisted projects will be bestowed with the honorary title of "Outstanding Project " by Beijing Film Market Department of BJIFF.

Participation

   All entrants must submit complete entry forms through the website of Beijing Film Market of BJIFF by10th March, 2016. Projects will not be accepted if entrants are found to have given false information. Beijing Film Market Department of BJIFF will screen entries and select shortlisted projects through an initial round of judging.
