The 5th Beijing International Film Festival Unveils the Guest List of the Sino-Foreign Film Co-production Forum Stellar Lineup; Focus on Cooperation

 

  The 5th Beijing International Film Festival will be held in Beijing from April 16 to 23, 2015. The Sino-Foreign Film Co-production Forum is to be held on the second day-April 17. Recently, the Organizing Committee unveiled the latest list of the forum guests. Several international top-notch filmmakers will gather to discuss the approach of concerted development.

  They are:

  Jean-Jacques Annaud: He is a well-known French director. He has received the Academy Award and several César Awards. His representative works include: Black and White in Color, The Lover, and Enemy at the Gates. His co-production with China this year - Wolf Totem has drawn more attention to him. 

    

  Tom DeSanto: He is a well-known Hollywood screenwriter and producer. He has once supervised such Hollywood blockbusters as X-Men and Transformers. He is reputed as a gold producer of Hollywood. He participated in the 2nd Beijing International Film Festival, and co-produced The Legend of Deification Game with a Chinese team. It took only three days for the film Transformers: Dark of the Moon to seize a box office of more than RMB 600 million yuan, which hit a new weekly record of box office in China mainland. However, what made his Transformers: Age of Extinction eye-catching was not its absolutely leading box office, but the numerous Chinese elements in it! In addition to the participation of such Chinese actors and actresses as Li Bingbing, Ray Lui, Han Geng, and Zou Shiming, as well as the Chinese landscape, the film has also been planted with large quantities of the Chinese brands advertisements, including protein powder, milk, automobile, TV, jewelry, mineral water, functional drinks and even duck neck!  

    

  Darren Aronofsky: He is a US director. He won the Golden Lion at the 65th Venice International Film Festival for his work The Wrestler. His Black Swan was screened at the Opening Ceremony of the 67th Venice International Film Festival.  

  

  Huang Jianxin: He is a Chinese producer and director. He is now serving as the President of China Film Directors' Guild. He received the Best Director Award at the 15th Golden Rooster Awards, a special award of the 17th Golden Rooster Awards, and a special award of the 50th Venice International Film Festival. His representative works include: The Founding of a Republic, The Founding of a Party  

    

  The Sino-Foreign Film Co-production Forum is designed to offer a professional platform for seeking international cooperation and the new coordinates of the globalization of the Chinese film industry. In face of the rapid development of the global film industry, the Chinese filmmakers and its overseas counterparts need to learn from and exchange with each other. The Sino-overseas co-productions are not only favorable for the two parties’ mutual progress in terms of film art and technologies, but also contribute to the enlargement of the two parties’ film markets. Therefore, it is an important step for the Chinese films’ internationalization.

  Since the inception of the Sino-Foreign Film Co-production Forum, all walks of heavy-weight filmmakers would gather in Beijing every year, discussing the opportunities and challenges of the Sino-foreign film cooperation. The forum’s guest lineups have been sung highly of every year, including Jeremy Thomas in the first year, James Cameron in the second year, Luc Besson in the third year and Alfonso Cuarón last year.
