Summer Carnival for Moviegoers—Overview of 12th BJIFF Beijing Film Panorama
At the press conference for the 12th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF), Lin Siwei, Deputy Head of the China Film Archive, Deputy Director of the China Film Art Research Center and Deputy Secretary General of the Organizing Committee, introduced the preparation and screening plan for the Beijing Film Panorama of this year.
The 12th BJIFF Beijing Film Panorama will present rich screening programs to the audience in midsummer in Beijing. Currently, the preparatory team are making all-out efforts on the home stretch. In order to live up to the expectations of filmmakers, cinema partners and film fans, we will, as always, strive to present exciting screening programs to meet your viewing passion and needs.
 
The 2022 edition consists of the following themed sections:
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland, the “BJIFF SPECIAL:MAKING WAVES - NAVIGATORS OF HONG KONG CINEMA” section will screen the latest restored versions of Hong Kong's new films and classics.
The “Special Screening” section will present multiple films, including Yang Shanzhou—a representative work of Li Xuejian, Jury President of the Tiantan Award this year.

The “Restored Classics” section will present the digitally restored versions of classics such as the Antoine Doinel Five Films by Fran?ois Truffaut, The Last Waltz, and The Moon Has Risen, to demonstrate world advanced film restoration technologies. At the same time, on occasion of the 40th anniversary of the release of The Teahouse in 2022, in-depth cooperation will be carried out with Beijing People’s Art Theatre.

The “Master Review” section will introduce the Retrospective of Greek Master Theodoros Angelopoulos, the largest of its kind in mainland China.

The “Premieres” section will witness the premiere of a few new films in China or Asia.
The “Animations” section will present fine animations like Masaaki Yuasa’s new hit—INU-OH.

The “Carnival” section will innovatively present Dolby Vision versions of classics.
The “Global View” section brings together outstanding new films from around the world, such as award-winning foreign films like Alcarràs and Just Remembering.

The “Chinese Influence”, “Women’s Voice” and avant-garde “Outlook” sections will present new and outstanding films worldwide as usual.
Moreover, the “Online BJIFF” will be further innovated and upgraded with 9 sections presenting nearly 100 outstanding films; “Meeting the 20th CPC National Congress, Embarking on a New Journey” Public Welfare Film Screening will be held; the "Beijing Film Panorama" will go out of Beijing to host “SEATOPIA SCREENING” at the SEATOPIA SCREENING, Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province.
What’s released today is just the first batch of films to be screened in the “Beijing Film Panorama”, and more impressive films will be announced one after another. The “Beijing Film Panorama” wishes to offer moviegoers an exciting and unforgettable summer of films.
In addition, Lin Siwei explained that the COVID-19 pandemic in Beijing is now well controlled, but there are still huge pressures on prevention of imported cases and domestic resurgence. The Organizing Committee has flexibly adjusted the number of cinemas and films in panorama according to the requirements for pandemic prevention and control as well as actual situation.
All cinema partners of the BJIFF will rigidly enforce the pandemic prevention and control requirements. Online real-name booking will be adopted, and the occupancy rate for each screening shall not exceed 75%. All attendees in the screening venues shall wear masks, take temperature one by one, and present QR code of the Beijing Health Kit and a negative nucleic acid result within 72 hours ahead of entry. The audience are prohibit from eating and drinking during the viewing so as to ensure the safety of the audience and the screening.
