The 13th BJIFF
Screening Schedule Announced! Festival for Film Fans Upcoming This Spring
Screening schedule for the “Beijing Film Panorama” of this year’s Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) is announced! Online ticket sales for “Beijing Film Panorama” will officially kick off on Maoyan Entertainment, the exclusive ticketing platform, at 12:00PM on April 18. (Fans who eagerly anticipate the tickets go to the end of the article for the link to the schedule.)
News about this screening merits a talk. For example, traditional popular cinemas such as Emperor Cinemas and MEGABOX (Sanlitun) take part in the screening after a two-year hiatus to undertake important screening tasks. It is believed it will bring fans a richer and more comfortable viewing experience.
At the same time, thanks to more compact film screenings at this year’s BJIFF, film enthusiasts may “catch it all”, and even watch all films in some sections in one day. Fans of Japanese film master Seijun Suzuki, for example, can get the China Film Archive Art Cinema film tickets for April 21.

There must be many popular films in each section, such as the 4K digital version of A City of Sadness in the Restored Classics section or On the Adamant, a film that won Golden Bear (Berlin International Film Festival), in the Dimension section. Before you view the schedule, we first briefly introduce the new but not-to-be-missed films in each section, so that you can avoid “the rush hour” for ticketing.
In this year’s BJIFF Special B&R Asian Vision LENOVO Special Presentation, The Burdened (4K), the first Yemeni film shortlisted for the Berlin International Film Festival, describes a true story of breaking social taboos. Ajoomma, a film produced by Anthony Chen, one of the “focus figures” at this year’s BJIFF, was shortlisted for the New Currents Award at the Busan International Film Festival.

The Restored Classics section also features a few films that may be strange to veteran fans but are extremely meaningful, such as The Blood (1990, 4K restored version) by Portuguese artistic and literary director Pedro Costa, which describes the dark family history, and the Chocolate (1988, 4K restored), a semi-autobiographical film by famous French female director Claire Denis. It is noteworthy that both works are debut feature films by the two directors.
The Dimension section brings together the latest films from film festivals at home and abroad. The Cage is Looking for a Bird is the debut film by Russian female director Malika Musaeva, born in 1992, and was shortlisted for the Encounters section of this year’s Berlin International Film Festival. Super Natural was rated the Best Film at the Berlin International Film Festival Forum and the Forum of New Cinema. It gives a dreamlike experience to film fans.

This year’s Reality Rocks section features many masterpieces that pay tribute to films and filmmakers. Come With Me to the Cinema – The Gregors focuses on Erika and Ulrich Gregor, who are key driving forces for the Berlin International Film Festival’s Forum section. Kim’s Video tells a little-known story about a videotape rental shop in New York.
