The “Light of Guangdong Films—China · Guangdong Film Promotion Conference”, slated for April 19, 2024 at the Beijing Film Market of the 14th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF), is expected to be a grand event to highlight the policies, industry, and works on Guangdong films from all aspects.  

The Promotion Conference is guided by the BJIFF Organizing Committee, Guangdong Film Administration, and Guangdong Federation of Literary and Art Circles and hosted by Guangdong Film Association and Film Art Center of CFLAC. 

Guangdong is the top box office in China, leading the industry in box office for 22 consecutive years. Up to now, Guangdong has more than 1,600 registered cinemas and over 10,000 screens, ranking first nationwide. 

But this is not all about Guangdong films. The Guangdong film industry has been advanced forwards in terms of creation. The Cantonese film White Snake won the Outstanding Feature Film at the 19th Huabiao Film Awards, and Madam Xian won the Best Opera Film at the 36th Golden Rooster Awards. Realistic works Chinese Doctors and The Photographer were nominated for the Huabiao Film Awards, while the documentary films An Isle and The Melody on the Canvas were nominated for the Golden Rooster Awards. During this year's Spring Festival, the animated film Boonie Bears: Time Twist presented in Guangdong became the box office champion among the animated films in such period over the years. 

Guangdong is also at the forefront of film technology application, research, and development represented by 5G, 4K/8K, artificial intelligence, blockchain, big data. The advanced technologies have been deeply integrated into the film industry chain, which makes it possible for Guangdong to lead China in post-production, film broadcasting and theater construction.

On April 19, 2024, a number of Guangdong films will be screened at the 14th BJIFF to promote the opportunities from this fertile film land to the world.

On the same day, authorities from Guangdong Province, Guangzhou City, Huizhou City, and Zengcheng District of Guangzhou City will introduce the latest film industry policies to further unleash local attractiveness to global investors and practitioners.

Guangzhou Film Industry Fair, Zengcheng Film and Television Culture Industrial Park, Dingjunshan Film and Television Education Demonstration Zone for Primary and Secondary Schools, and other well-known film and TV platforms and bases in Guangdong will send invitations for peers to join the development.

Excitingly, 10 Guangdong films in various forms and genres will make their debut at this event to present the great innovation and diversity of local film industry.
