Embrace Spring and Enjoy the Best Films in the World

The 13th BJIFF Beijing Film Panorama will return to be held in April this year. The enthusiastic fans and the masses can embark on an unforgettable journey of films and enjoy an incredibly magnificent visual feast in the warm and blossoming spring in Beijing. 

From April 20 to April 29, Beijing Film Panorama will select more than 160 outstanding films from home and abroad to be screened by 27 cinema partners. This year, the cinemas in the core business district with long-term cooperation with Beijing Film Panorama have all resumed normal business; many cinemas have upgraded their screening equipment; Universal CityWalk Cinema cooperates with Beijing Film Panorama for the first time; in addition, Dolby films will be screened in multiple Dolby cinemas to provide the audiences with high-quality watching experiences.
In terms of the film selection, Beijing Film Panorama will carefully select the films from home and abroad and specially design several themes based on the previous classic sections to offer a unique, diverse and immersive watching experience for all. 

2023 Beijing Film Panorama will include the themed sections as follows: 
First and foremost, films shortlisted for the Tiantan Award and entries for the Forward Future section will be screened in the Beijing Film Panorama. Audiences may book tickets at the earliest possible time for the films shortlisted for the Competition Section. 
2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the "Belt and Road" initiative and Beijing Film Panorama will specially present the section themed "10th Anniversary of Belt and Road Initiative x Way Forward with Lenovo: Asian Cinema Networking " with Lenovo Group as the sponsor to screen the ten latest films produced by countries along the Silk Road and showcase the rare creativity of Asian films. 
The Special Screening section will screen the classic films by Mr. Zhang Yimou, Jury President of the Tiantan Award this year and multiple films have been digitally restored. 
The Filmmakers in Focus section this year will screen the films by Anthony Chen and Bas Devos, and the two filmmakers will also have face-to-face exchanges with fans in Beijing. 
The Master Review section will screen the films by the late Japanese film master, Suzuki Seijun, and all films presented to the audience have been digitally restored. Of course, some high-profile guests will also show up in this section, please stay tuned.  
The beloved Restored Classics section showcasing the world’s cutting-edge film restoration techniques will be expanded and some classic films with digital restoration will be screened such as Woman Sesame Oil Maker, Tess and Chocolate.

This year’s Beijing Film Panorama will join hands with BULGARI to launch "BVLGARI · Journey to Italian Film” featured with a series of delightful Italian masterpieces.
The following sections will present the world’s latest popular films from different aspects: 
The avant-garde Dimension section will showcase the films with the value of aesthetic exploration such as Super Natural, Seneca and In Water. 
The Women's Voice section will showcase excellent female-themed films such as Bachmann & Frisch, Knowing the Score, etc.

The Reality Rocks section will showcase the world’s popular documentaries and new works by renowned directors such as On the Adamant and The Wall Can Talk, as well as the documentaries paying tribute to the art of film such as Kim’s Video. 
The Animation section will screen the world’s latest animated feature film and a selection of popular anime films from the Game-based Animated Films section. 
The Vision section will screen films with foreign awards and popular new releases, including The Plough and Tar. In addition, the Thailand Film Week and Japan Film Week will also be launched to showcase the new releases and classic films in both countries.

The Chinese New Wave section will focus on the works by outstanding Chinese young filmmakers, newly-released Chinese films and the excellent films from the Beijing Ethnic Film Festival. Meanwhile, we will continue to collaborate with the Hong Kong International Film Festival to present the theme “Making Waves -- Navigators of Hong Kong Cinema” sponsored by CreateHK to showcase the selected films from Hong Kong, China. 
The Carnival section will launch a major event this year, WB 100, and many Warner Bros. films loved by fans will be screened as a feast for the audience. 
The subsections, namely Midnight and Blockbusters, under Carnival section, will offer the audience with unforgettable watching experiences. In addition, the Online Sharing section will continue to share the films with the audience in China on streaming platforms. 
We will also continue to cooperate with Beijing International Sports Film Week to screen excellent sports-themed films.
Lastly, the Beijing Film Panorama VR section will be upgraded to XR section this year. Over the past five years since 2018, this section has cultivated the audience and explored diverse narratives for the festival. The BJIFF has become an important part of the world’s XR ecosystem. This year, the section will focus on the feature films, take film and television narratives as the basis, make use of new technologies to connect drama, games and other fields, explore the innovative forms of film industry and expand the iteration boundaries of the metaverse. Welcome audience across the times to experience the charm of XR technology.
