States That BJIFF Keeps Empowering Cultural Inheritance through Films
Xu Tao, Chief Editor of Beijing Radio & Television Station and Executive Deputy Secretary General of the BJIFF Organizing Committee, addressed the theme forum “Popular Traditional Culture: Cultural Inheritance and Innovation in Media Convergence” held on June 29.
Xu Tao addresses the theme forum
As she mentioned, at the 11th BJIFF, director Wuershan, a jury member of the Tiantan Award, expressed to her his wish to empower film and television making with traditional Chinese culture via his film Creation of The Gods Ⅰ: Kingdom of Storms. During her speech, Xu Tao spoke highly of the film for providing a new path for creative transformation and innovative development of Chinese traditional culture.
At the Beijing International Film Festival Reception organized by the BJIFF Organizing Committee at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2019, the first global trailer of the film was released, giving us a glimpse of the masterpiece whose production spanned over nine years; today, the film is finally opening in theaters soon.
According to Xu Tao, all Chinese media professionals are being tested of “how to promote cultural prosperity at the beginning of the new era”. In the face of such test, the BJIFF will keep promoting masterpieces, such as the Creation of The Gods Ⅰ: Kingdom of Storms to the public, and continue to facilitate the in-depth fusion of traditional Chinese culture and film art. The BJIFF never closes.
