An Event Calendar Packed with More than 50 Events and Numerous Giveaways to Film Fans
The selection and schedule of the BJIFF Beijing Film Panorama were released yesterday. Everyone must be busy scheduling their viewings. In addition to presenting wonderful films from around the world, the BJIFF is committed to building a stage for closer communication between filmmakers and the audience. This year, the Beijing Film Panorama has packed the schedule with more than 50 events, or 5 events per day on average, for film fans.
Among them, there are many old friends of the BJIFF. For instance, Emir Kusturica, Jury President of the Tiantan Award this year. He came to the meet-and-greet for the film On the Milky Road in Beijing in 2017. Daigo Matsui, who won favor of many fans with Ice Cream and the Sound of Raindrops, is having world premiere of his latest film Undead Lovers at the BJIFF this year. And Yonfan, who was paid tribute to in the Retrospective subsection last year, is screening the newly restored Peony Pavilion for two sessions only. It’s highly likely to be one of the fastest sold-out.

The 14th BJIFF also gathers many new friends. For example, the casts & crews of four films to be screened under the Making Waves - Navigators of Hong Kong Cinema are to appear on April 19, which would be very eventful. As for active female filmmakers, director Teng Congcong, is attending the meet-and-greet together with leading actress Ma Yili following the screening of To the Wonder, which was just nominated at the Cannes International Series Festival. And director Kim Hye-young will make a surprise appearance in Beijing with It’s Okay!, which won the Crystal Bear for the Best Film in the Children’s Jury Generation Kplus at the Berlin International Film Festival in early 2024. No doubt there are many film fans looking forward to the latest film Big by director Te-Sheng Wei, whose appearance was announced last minute.
In order to allow more film fans to watch exciting meet-and-greets at the BJIFF, the Beijing Film Panorama has decided to live stream four events, namely Undead Lovers to be screened at 7:30PM, April 18, at the Shenying International Cinema, Like Winds, Like Weeds to be screened at 7:30PM, April 19, at the Beijing Jackie Chan Cinema, EO (4K) to be screened at 6:00PM, April 25, at The Capital Cinema, and Peony Pavilion (Japanese dubbing) to be screened at the Emperor Cinemas via BJIFF WeChat Video Account.
