On April 25, Hua Chunying, Assistant Foreign Minister and Spokesperson of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, tweeted on the Twitter account of Spokesperson Office to promote the 14th BJIFF, which is currently being held in Beijing. According to the tweet, "The 14th BJIFF has received 1,509 entries from 118 countries and regions for the Competition Section of Tiantan Award, with 87% of the entries coming from overseas, with the number hitting a new high."
A total of 1,784 journalists from 105 countries and regions have signed up for this year's BJIFF, including 200 foreign journalists and 149 foreign media, with the number hitting a new high.
This year, Serbian director Emir Kusturica has been invited as the Jury President of Tiantan Award. As this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Brazil and China, the BJIFF has invited Brazil to serve as the Guest of Honor, and launched the Film Season for Diplomats and "International Lounge" for the first time, and held a series of foreign cultural exchange events such as the France Film Week and the Brazil Film Week.
