According to the latest statistics, as of August 18, the total box office revenue (including pre-sales) for the 2025 summer film season (June 1 - August 31) has officially exceeded 10 billion yuan, with cumulative admissions reaching over 267 million. This achievement is yet another powerful indicator of the robust recovery momentum in China's film market.

Among the released films, Dead to Rights directed by Shen Ao, leads the summer season with nearly 2.6 billion yuan in box office revenue. The film has garnered widespread audience acclaim for its refined production quality and profound themes. The domestic animated feature Nobody ranks second as a dark horse, while The Lychee Road, adapted from Ma Boyong's novel, holds a steady third place.

Notably, several new releases are scheduled for the coming weeks. These include the dark humor comedy One Wacky Summer, the horror-thriller Final Destination: Bloodlines, the crime film I Swear, the fantasy drama Peg O' My Heart, and the animated work Memoir of a Snail. Among these, the re-releases of Operation Hadal (Special Edition) and the Eastern fantasy blockbuster Green Snake are particularly anticipated by the industry. Meanwhile, recent releases such as The Shadow's Edge and The Bad Guys 2 are also demonstrating strong momentum.

This year's summer film season has been characterized by diverse genres and high-quality productions, featuring both sustained momentum from commercial blockbusters and surprising breakthroughs from mid-to-low-budget films. With several new releases still to come, the latter half of the season is expected to maintain strong market vitality, injecting fresh energy into the annual film market.
These outstanding results have not only boosted industry confidence but have also laid a solid foundation for the upcoming National Day film season. We anticipate the summer box office continuing to gain momentum, reflecting the ongoing ascent of Chinese cinema!
