Project Pitches Training Camp of the 16th BJIFF sends an official invitation to the worldwide Chinese-speaking young creators with the slogan "Together, enjoy it!"
This year's training camp is themed on "Enjoy it", taking short films as a thorough breakout, a daring collision. We call for you who dare to shoot, express, and focus on the sharpest frame. If you already have a story in mind, just come here! Enjoy shooting short films to the fullest, and express yourself to the fullest. Speak daringly and shoot to your heart's content, as to create means to enjoy it!

Till today, the classic drama Enjoy It (1994) is still vivid and attractive. The ultimate emotional insight and the trenchant era claim in the drama give it magic that transcends time. "Enjoy it" is not only to indulge, but more importantly a declaration of daring enjoyment, and a straightforward response to vigorous vitality, with unlimited possibilities in itself. This training camp's short films focus on "Enjoy it", expecting the creators to base on this era, with image as the vehicle, free yourself, with no limit or pity, to create the most enjoyable short films.

Project Pitches Training Camp is a Chinese-speaking film creation training plan established by BJIFF Beijing Film Market to further cultivate young filmmakers who have both creative talent and executive power. Started officially in 2021, assisted and guided by a professional tutor group, this plan organizes intensive creation and shooting guidance for the enlisted trainees, so as to provide young filmmakers with a specialized film learning platform and a channel for fast growth.
Young director Zhou Jinghao once participated in the first BJIFF Project Pitches Training Camp in 2021, and was noticed by General Tutor Chen Zhengdao in the camp period, which laid a foundation for their subsequent cooperation. Girl on Edge, the first feature film directed by Zhou Jinghao, is supervised by Director Chen Zhengdao. The finished film was successfully enlisted in the Directors' Fortnight of the 78th Cannes Film Festival, and nominated for the same year's Caméra d’Or.

The 15th BJIFF Project Pitches Training Camp included recruitment, camp training, one-on-one script guidance, project evaluation, live-action production, premiere and other phases. The final films had a screening event during the BJIFF, in which they communicated and shared with both peers and audience. During the camp, the committee organized an influential professional tutor group, including General Tutor Wen Muye, Performance Tutor Zhou Dongyu, General Producer & Production Tutor Ying Luojia, Script Tutor Su Biao, Director Tutor Liang Ming, Cinematography Tutor Cheng Ma, Art Tutor Tu Nan, Edit Tutor Zhu Lin. The tutor group offered professional guidance for script refinement, shooting preparation, post production and other key phases throughout the process.

Finally, after the evaluation of the Greenlight Committee tutors, four short films, i.e. Enlighten the Deaf, Whistle to the Empty, Have A Good Talk and Guardian gradually emerged in diversified exploration of the training camp. Centering around the shared theme "Express gently", with their own illustrative structures and formative languages, they demonstrate young creators' exploration and response to means of expression. Quite a few trainees mentioned in communication that they recognized their relationship with works anew during this period. The on-site industry guests also witnessed growth of creative potential from these parts and discussions.

During the period, Director Yang Qingdao finished the documentary Training, which recorded the trainees' creation processes with humorous and detailed frames, memorizing their daily deliberation, hesitation and progress. This documentary is also to be released on Bilibili officially today. It catches the transient real instants both on and off the stage from a relaxing and humorous perspective, kicks off the following releases of the four finished films of the 15th BJIFF Project Pitches Training Camp, and records the creators' anxiety, relaxation, trifles and inspiration during the training camp.
The 16th BJIFF Project Pitches Training Camp goes on to recruit four types of young creators: directors, producers, cinematographers and art designers. The script projects and young creators enlisted for this year's Project Pitches Training Camp will participate in the professional intensive training lectured by the tutor group personally. The creators will team up freely, and have discussions on practical operation of the projects with senior industry adviser tutors. Three short films will be selected finally by the tutor group to enter the shooting, with shooting capital, equipment and production team provided by BJIFF Organizing Committee. As a result, three short films and a documentary will be premiered on the 16th BJIFF, with an industry-oriented special screening and communication event at Beijing Film Market Langyuan Station.
