Youth Science Film Sector of the 11th Beijing International Film Festival & the 3rd International Adolescents Science Film Festival Concluded Successfully
On September 25, 2021, the Youth Science Film Sector of the 11th Beijing International Film Festival & the 3rd International Adolescents Science Film Festival (hereinafter referred to as the "event") was held at the Beijing Science Center. Zhai Mingguo, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhu Dingzhen, member of the CPPCC National Committee, chief meteorological service of the Public Meteorological Service Center of China Meteorological Administration, Rong Zishan, an actor and volunteer ambassador to the 11th BJIFF as well as many guests in the science and art circles conducted online communication with the teachers and students who couldn’t be present. The event was live broadcast online through photos which attracted a total of 80,000 people.

Chen Weicheng, the member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice President of Beijing Association for Science and Technology, member of the Organizing Committee of the 11th BIJFF, Cui Yan, Director of BJIFF Operation Center at Beijing Radio & Television Station (BRTV) and Executive Deputy Director of the BJIFF Organizing Committee Office, He Suxing, Director of Beijing Science Center (Beijing Children and Youth Science Center), Zhang Xiaohu, Secretary General of Beijing Children and Youth Science Education Association, Wang Jiaokai, Party Secretary and President of BDA School of The High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China, Liu Ran, Deputy Director of Beijing Science Center (Beijing Children and Youth Science Center) as well as Ke Zhonghua, master supervisor in the industry at Communication University of China, Deputy Secretary-general of the Committee for China Science and Technology Popularization and Writing Association of China Science Writers Association (CSWA), Wang Xuejiang, a profession in Capital University of Medical Sciences, Yu Ran, Associate Professor of Communication University of China, Zhu Hui, Associate Professor of Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts, jointly attended the ceremony and presented awards to the students. 
 
A total of 336 valid videos by students and 16 valid videos by teachers were received in the event this year. After strict assessment by the jury, a total of 66 first prizes, 113 second prizes, 171 third prizes and 27 individual prizes were finally awarded.  
Special Jury Prize 
 
Various individual prizes and Organizing Committee Prize were successively awarded at the event. Students from the BDA School of The High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China performed a film and television drama based on the micro-film Speak Out Bravely. The drama tells the story of two middle school students who invented a sign language recognition and translation system to help the deaf-mute students. It demonstrates the spirit of humanistic care of the youth in technological innovation. The event is guided by the Beijing Association for Science and Technology and the Organizing Committee of the 11th BJIFF, co-organized by the Beijing Science Center (Beijing Children and Youth Science Center) and Beijing Children and Youth Science Education Association. Over the past three years, the event has attracted nearly 10,000 young people from Beijing, Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, Russia, Czech Republic, Italy, South Korea and other countries and regions. Through the positive influence of Beijing Association for Science and Technology and Beijing International Film Festival, the event aims to inspire more young people to discover with diligent thinking and bold creation, spread scientific knowledge, convey scientific ideas, display artistic aesthetics through scientific videos, so as to continuously improve their scientific quality and support them in serving the country by science, and display teenagers’ mental outlook and cultural confidence with the demeanor of China and the capital.
