The main trailer of the 12th BJIFF is soon to go live!

The trailer is directed by the famous Chinese director Lu Chuan, and stars Li Xuejian, Jury President of the Tiantan Award, as well as three outstanding young actors – Song Jia, Qi Xi, and Huang Xuan, to create the first cinematic main trailer for a film festival with participation from big-name directors and famous actors in China.

Movie lovers won't get lost. Let’s gather at the 12th BJIFF to dream about cinema and embark on an artistic journey, together!.

 

Graduating from the Department of Directing, Beijing Film Academy, Lu Chuan, a famous director, screenwriter and producer in China, is considered as one of the representatives of the “sixth generation” of Chinese directors.

In 2006, Lu was invited to serve as the art director of the opening ceremony for the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games, and created the opening ceremony trailer. In 2010, he directed the promo video The Journey for the main exhibition of the China Pavilion at Expo 2010. In 2011, he was awarded the National May Day Labor Medal by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions for his active commitment to social and cultural missions.

In 2014, Lu Chuan sat on the jury of the Tiantan Award at the 4th BJIFF; in 2020, he attended, as a guest, the “Decade-long Devotion to Films” forum held at the 10th BJIFF, where he advised on “Beijing should become a global hub for talented filmmakers”. He was also the chief director of the official film of Beijing 2022, and is now the chief director of the opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.

Li Xuejian is a Chinese performing artist and a national Class-A actor at the National Theatre of China, and chaired the 9th Board of Governors of the Chinese Film Association.

For more than four decades of dedication to his acting career, Li Xuejian has been advocating virtues and refining his acting style, being “subtle, sincere, simple and kind”. With his representative works including Roaring Across the Horizon, Jiao Yulu, Yang Shanzhou, and 1942, he scooped many prestigious film awards at home and abroad, including both the Golden Rooster and the Hundred Flowers Awards for Best Actor.

In addition, Li is also accomplished in stage play, winning the inaugural Chinese Drama Plum Blossom Award ever and being named a Lifetime Honorary Artist of the National Theatre of China in 2021.

Li Xuejian’s acting career has worked in concert with the reform and opening up of China. His professional attitude of “sincerity and practicality” has made him a cross-section of the film industry in the new China. Li was awarded the title and medal of Reform Pioneer and named the Most Impressive Striver.

In 2018, Li Xuejian attended the Closing & Awards Ceremony of the 8th BJIFF as an awards presenter; in 2022, he will reunite with the BJIFF as the jury president of the Tiantan Award, contributing to the film industry.

Song Jia, a famous actress in the Chinese mainland, graduated from the Department of Acting, Shanghai Theatre Academy. Since her debut in 2001, she has acted in 90 film and television productions so far.

With the awards presented to her, Song Jia continues to push herself, with her representative works in recent years including The Shadow Play, Back to the Wharf, and Chinese Doctors. She is quite capable of weaving between genre films and literary films, making a deep imprint of her versatile image on the screen left on the audience.

Several films starring Song Jia were screened at the BJIFF. Especially, Song was invited to sing at the opening ceremony of the 9th edition to show how versatile she is.

Qi Xi, a Chinese actress, graduated from the Directing Department of the Central Academy of Drama.

She played the fourth generation of "Mingming" in Meng Jinghui’s play Rhinoceros in Love, and performed more than 700 times. In 2011, she won prestigious awards such as the 7th Asian Film Awards for Best New Performer for her remarkable performance in Lou Ye’s film Mystery. In 2018, she played the role of Shen Moli in director Wang Xiaoshuai’s film Son Long, My Son, which was selected for the Competition section at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival, and nailed a number of prestigious film awards at home and abroad, including the Golden Rooster Awards and Asian Film Awards.

In 2022, Qi was a nominee of Best Supporting Actress at the 36th Hundred Flowers Awards for his performance in Wen Muye’s Nice View. In the same year, she starred in the film Before Next Spring, which was selected for the Competition Section, Tiantan Award at the 11th BJIFF.

Huang Xuan, a famous Chinese actor, graduated from the Musical Department of Beijing Dance Academy, and has grown into one of the most high-profile young actors since he started out in 2007.

In 2014, he played the role of Xiaoma in Lou Ye’s Blind Massage, and thus won the Most Anticipated Performance award at the 15th Chinese Film Media Awards and was nominated for Best Actor at the 22nd Beijing College Student Film Festival. In 2021, he won the Firebird Award for Best Actor at the 45th Hong Kong International Film Festival for his role in Wu Hai; and in the same year, he was presented the Golden Crane Award for Best Actor at the 34th Tokyo International Film Festival for his role in 1921.

In addition, as an outstanding, bankable actor with impressive artistic expression, Huang has many representative works including The Golden Era, Legend of the Demon Cat, Youth, and Only Cloud Knows.

A number of productions starring Huang Xuan were screened at the BJIFF. At the 11th BJIFF, Huang Xuan was invited to the China Filmmaker & Artist Works Invitational Exhibition to display his personal calligraphic works.
