  About Jordan

  A filming site in Jordan
Jordan, Bilad al-Sham, near the Mediterranean Sea, is favored by tourists for its favorable climate and historical monuments and hailed as one of the most famous wedding locations in the West. This historic city has been the crossroad of the Silk Road and the Maritime Silk Road and the witness for the rise and fall of the Assyrian, Babylonian, Persian, Macedonian, Arab and Ottoman empires. It is also home to the 20-century-old Petra. From the Lawrence of Arabia, it can be learnt that Wadi Rum is the base of the British legend - Lawrence of Arabia - to revolt against the Ottoman Empire.

For example, the scenes of The Martian where Matt Damon lives on Mars were shot in Wadi Rum (Valley of the Moon); the Transformers was filmed in Petra, an ancient city of Jordan; Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, The Hurt Locker, and The Viral Factor starring Jay Chou also contain some scenes from Jordan.
Jordan is favored by both the filmmakers and tourists all over the world. Tourism is an economic pillar to Jordan with a proportion of around 20% of its GDP. Famous scenic spots here are Dead Sea, Azraq Castle, and Migdol Temple.
