Everlasting BJIFF Media Catalogue Promotion: Passionate and Serene Winter Mountains
The Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) has launched a special film-themed media catalogue as part of the "Everlasting BJIFF" series of activities.
Movie enthusiasts familiar with the film festival know that the media catalogue serves as a barometer for film criticism, measuring the artistic and commercial aspects of films from a theoretical perspective.
It acts as a compass for film criticism, providing objective judgment criteria for movie enthusiasts before watching a film.
Our media catalogue will be composed of film critics who specialize in different fields, offering insights into the art of filmmaking from various angles and directions, as well as analyzing the current film industry.
For the first issue of the media catalogue, we have chosen the new film The Breaking Ice directed by Anthony Chen. This film is set to be released on August 22, coinciding with the Chinese Valentine's Day.

We have long established a connection with Director Anthony Chen. In the Filmmaker in Focus: Anthony Chen session of the BJIFF's Out-of-Competition Section in April of this year, three of his feature films were screened, including his remarkable debut film Ilo Ilo, the accomplished Wet Season, and his latest adventure film Drift, which marks his first foray into English-language cinema.
In addition, Chen was invited to participate in the theme forum of the BJIFF this year, where he shared unique insights on how to portray the posture, emotions, and state of being of characters.

Anthony Chen once stated that "creators should not do repetitive tasks, but should challenge new possibilities". He also emphasized that "excellent filmmakers should always maintain a humble attitude. It is only by carrying the goal of not ruining the film before shooting that we can produce outstanding film works".
Still of The Breaking Ice
The Breaking Ice is also an adventure for Anthony Chen, a director who grew up in a tropical country and a modern city. He came to a small town on the northeast border of China and injected his fiery passion into the frozen frontier. With the collaboration of outstanding young actors, they collectively ignited a vibrant atmosphere of youthful love. In this issue of the media catalogue, the most common keywords used by film critics to describe The Breaking Ice include "romantic", "heart-throbbing", and "subtle". How these details are presented to support such a rich evaluation is something to look forward to.

Director Anthony Chen's artistic concept aligns perfectly with the spirit of our "Everlasting BJIFF" series of activities in the media catalogue.
On one hand, the BJIFF aims to continuously innovate and never stagnate by enriching the diversity of its media catalogue. In addition to well-known media outlets such as Busan and Houlang, this issue of the media catalogue also features independent film reviews from ordinary seasoned movie enthusiasts. The media catalogue is open to all who share a passion for cinema, without any restrictions.
On the other hand, the ongoing and ever-evolving "Everlasting BJIFF" activities also pay special attention to the ecosystem of young filmmakers, striving to provide a stepping stone for emerging talents while also nourishing the development of the BJIFF itself.
The BJIFF never ends, and the journey of film is long and arduous. Let us all explore and seek together.
