The 11th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) and Dolby Laboratories, the Special Partner for Beijing Film Panorama, announced the Dolby Cinema Screenings Section, inviting you to together experience the real movie world through true and vivid images and sound at Dolby Cinema, an exclusively customized immersive viewing space.
Akira

From silent films to sound ones, from black-and-white films to color ones, and from 2D/3D films to ones with Dolby Vision, a type of High Dynamic Range (HDR), and Dolby Atmos, technology has changed our way of watching films. Dolby Cinema arises from the vision of filmmakers - to present more immersive time and space with Dolby's narrative skills in image and sound production. Thanks to Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and innovative cinema designs, movies have been revitalized and emerge in cinemas in a more pure way.

The Dolby Cinema Screenings Section for Beijing Film Panorama of the 11th BJIFF will screen four select Dolby films at four Dolby Cinemas in Beijing, aiming to provide the audience with a fantastic audio-visual feast.

Akira 1988
(Akira)
Akira

This film is a legend in the history of Japanese animation, a fantasy song written by imagination, and a prophecy that transcends the times. Miyazaki Hayao once commented: “Seeing a boy with strange power stands on the ruins of Tokyo, everyone would say this is Katsuhiro ?tomo.”

Venom 2018
(Venom)
Venom

It is an atypical superhero movie with special-effect scenes at the peak. Action scenes full of entertainment, paired with real and cool images and spectacular and exquisite sound of Dolby Cinema, bring a striking journey.

In the Heights 2021
(In the Heights)
In the Heights

This film is directed by Jon M. Chu, who is also Director of Crazy Rich Asians. Adapted from a musical of the same name in 2008, it has been acclaimed as the "best summer movie” by many media. The film's bright colors and ingenious sound design are presented even more vividly at Dolby Cinema.

It 2017
(IT)
It

This is a horror film with a strong atmosphere adapted from a novel of the same name by Stephen King. It can truly represent the scenery of the small town in the ultra-high brightness and contrast of Dolby Cinema, leading us to face the fear in our hearts.

Dolby Vision, a type of HDR, enables images of the film to be more realistically restored according to the creative intentions of the director and the team. Even the dark night scenes can be presented extremely clearly, allowing the audience to feel the impact and excitement brought by the vision in a more intuitive manner. Dolby Atmos’ immersive audio system can better make flexible and delicate sound effects linger around the audience, or even above the head. Whether it's the fierce fighting in the torrential rain, or the whispering sound of the wind and singing of insects in a silent night, Dolby Atmos can give the audience true feelings as if they have traveled through the movie.
Venom

Walking into the cinemas in partnership with the Dolby Cinema Screenings Section of the Beijing Film Panorama, you can find out that designs show ingenuity and expertise everywhere. The specially-designed “cocoon wall” that absorbs light is matched with the guiding lights illuminating downwards on both sides, the sound installations for the strict control of the sound reverberation time of each frequency band, and the hidden speakers. The curved screen, which is specially designed, allows you to have the best viewing experience no matter where to sit in the surrounded seat area.

From September 17 to 30, 2021, the Dolby Cinema Screenings Section for the Beijing Film Panorama of the 11th BJIFF is looking forward to your arrival in an exclusively-customized viewing space without any interference. We hope that every viewer can fully devote themselves to the movies and feel the extremely real picture texture and shocking sound effects.
