Set in a village on the border of Malaysia and Thailand, the film tells the story of co-existence and connection of human beings and ghosts in country life. The rich portrayal of folklore adds a touch of solemnity and mystery to slow shots. It is not only a thriller but also a folklore feature, making it unique in both genres.

 

 

Young Japanese director Kota Yoshida’s new film—Sexual Drive is very interesting. The film contains no intimate shots but offers an erotic look. The director presents three stories in connection with three different impulses to explore similarities of desires. Short but pertinent, the film adopts a quirky perspective. It is funny, bright and full of hilarious performance and dialogues. 

 

 

Turkish director Baris Sarhan’s new film—The Cemil Show is a thrilling comedy about a nobody. Security guard Cemil has always wanted to be a star but he becomes crazy in the role eventually, which is funny and tragic at the same time. The director managed to express Cemil’s inner state with handheld cameras, and make the story relatable. The simple story is very emotional. 

 

 

The Escape Room released two years ago was well received and well done at the box office. The film presents the hit game—escape room plus Battle Royale-style survival plot, making it thrilling and exciting. It might be the most entertaining popcorn film in the Midnight section. If you want to get thrilled and rake your brain after watching classics by film masters, the film is definitely a great choice.
