　　Synopsis:

　　The film tells a love story taking place in Germany before the First World War. Friederich has a humble origin, but he gets his new boss Karl’s appreciation at work. He gradually falls in love with his boss's wife, Lotte, while he voluntarily makes up missed lessons for his new boss’s son. Then, Friederich has to leave Germany for two years for some reason. Lotte and Friederich promise each other to get together after two years, but the war has made them separate from each other much longer than two years. After six long years, Friederich returns to Germany, and he and Lotte’s reunion eventually takes place.
