In the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, Lin Zhennan, part of the Embroidered Uniform Guard, is chased by the court after stealing the Sunflower Manual, a scroll containing martial arts secrets. The Huashan Sect commissions its top disciple Linghu Chong and his junior sister Yue Lingshan to rescue the Lin family. However, their skills are insufficient, and they must escape after receiving Lin Zhennan's last words. Linghu starts off as a novice with mediocre fighting skills but later acquires a musical piece called Xiaoao Jianghu and the skill “Nine Swords of Dugu”. Many groups gather in the Miao region for the Sunflower Manual, leading to an intense conflict involving the spy agency Eastern Depot, the Huashan Sect, the Songshan Sect, and the Sun Moon Holy Cult.
