Film “N” Roll! Filmmakers Make Appearance at Closing Ceremony of 13th BJIFF!
What a turnout! Filmmakers gathered on a beautiful spring day to witness the announcement of honorary categories of the Tiantan Award. The Closing Ceremony of the 13th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) was successfully held at the Beijing Yanqi Lake International Convention & Exhibition Center on April 28. Cast & crew teams and filmmakers from home and abroad reunited at the star-studded BJIFF, hit the red carpet, and posed for the cameras.

Mei Ting and Singaporean director Anthony Chen made their red-carpet appearance. It is worth mentioning that Chen’s all of the three feature films completed so far, Drift, Wet Season, and Ilo Ilo, were also screened at the “Filmmaker in Focus—Anthony Chen”, a special session of this year’s Beijing Film Panorama.

Wu Yanshu, winner of the Tiantan Award for Best Actress at the 12th BJIFF, came to the scene beside the Yanqi Lake again and looked forward to the results of the winners of honors for this year’s Tiantan Award, together with all the filmmakers and guests.

Nuri Bilge Ceylan, one of the keynote speakers of this year’s Workshop & Masterclass series; Corinne Bopp, Li Miao, and Koji Fukada, all of whom sat on the international jury of the Forward Future; composer Chen Xi; music producer Dong Dongdong; screenwriter Lu Wei, as well as Chen Ruoxuan, He Yuqing, Lin Miaoke, Wang Shengdi, Zheng Haosen, Zhou Shen, and other guests made an appearance on the red carpet.

In recent years, many mid- and low-budget films with diversified styles and vigorous growth have come to the fore at the BJIFF. The cast & crew members of the said films including Night Falls, Yangzi’s Confusion, Summer Diary, and Growing Apart also made an appearance at the closing ceremony.

Since the selections for this year’s Tiantan Award were announced, the winners of the ten award categories have created quite some buzz among all walks of life! The cast & crew teams and producer representatives of the selected films including Adiós Buenos Aires, Ciao, Driving Madeleine, Lost in the Stars, Men of Deeds, Scrapper, Sisters, The Man Without Guilt, The Punishment, The Shadowless Tower, Time Out, To Catch A Killer, Totem, and Until Branches Bend also hit the red carpet, who will join other filmmakers and movie fans to wait for the honors to be revealed.

In addition, the international jury of this year’s Tiantan Award consisting of Zhang Yimou, Fernando E. Juan Lima, Stanley Kwan, Nadav Lapid, Pimpaka Towira, Zhang Songwen, and Zhou Dongyu also walked the red carpet. On April 29, they will unveil the final results of the ten categories of the Tiantan Award.

The closing ceremony of the 13th BJIFF was successfully held, bringing together Chinese and foreign filmmakers and guests with constant passion for the film industry again. In the alternation of light and shadow, they felt the vitality of world cinema and will witness the road of Chinese cinema forging ahead and seeking prosperous development in the new era at this film event.

The Closing Ceremony of this year’s BJIFF will be officially aired at 7:30pm on April 29, when viewers can watch it through Beijing Satellite TV, the People’s Daily app, tv.people.cn, chinadaily.com.cn, the China Daily app, btime.cn, iQIYI, and xuexi.cn.
