Past experience tells us that if you want to spend BJIFF without regrets, you need to make your own movie-watching plan before tickets go on sale.
Cinemas and the film list form the two basic coordinates of your viewing schedule. This year, the Beijing Film & Life Festival adds a whole new axis: filmgoers can party while venue-hopping. Finish a film, keep your ticket stub, and enjoy exclusive perks around the city - celebrating the festival both on and off screen.
Thirty-three cinemas and one immersive venue will participate in this year's “Beijing Film Panorama” unit. Key locations such as the Art Cinema of China Film Archive, Beijing CBD Wanda Cinemas, and Sparkle Roll-Jackie Chan Cinema remain major screening hubs. For cinephiles eager to rack up a high film count, these dense screening spots are the perfect foundation for building your itinerary - start from a central cinema and plan outwards for optimal time efficiency. For movie fans who like to watch as many movies as they can during BJIFF, these densely scheduled films can serve as the basis for you to create your own movie-watching plan, radiating outward around the core theaters on each movie-watching day, and greatly compressing the time to rush to the movies.
In addition to movies, at Wukesong, the Wukesong Food Festival awaits - grab some food right after your movie and recharge for the next one. If Beijing CBD Wanda Cinemas is your home base, don't miss the outdoor cinema sites at Fen Dou Opera Theater in Donglang Film and Television Cultural Industrial Park and the pet-friendly No.75 Jianguo Road Digital Art Industrial Park. With restaurants, cafés, and bars offering exclusive discounts, these zones are perfect recharging stations - don't forget the nearby commercial area Galleria for more perks.
、At the same time, some specialty cinemas are also good places to check in at this year's BJIFF. The Daguanlou Cinema in Qianmen Street is the most “Beijing-flavored” venue of the festival. There, you can watch Peking Opera movies, experience Beijing folk customs, try Beijing snacks, and walk through the "Chinese Film History Gallery" to see 120 years of Chinese film history. The fully high-frame-rate LED cinema at POLPAS of the Huaxia Film Center is partnering with BJIFF for the first time, promising an unprecedented viewing experience with its 360° screen, higher resolution, and rich color. Friends who have carefully looked at the screening schedule may be able to find that the four cinemas Huaxia Film Center, Beijing Theater, RIJDOJ Cinema, and Party History Museum Cinema, have formed a “POLPAS Film Corrido”. Not only have we left enough space for everyone to change screenings, but we have also secured a series of exclusive discounts for movie fans in the business districts along the way.
、After talking about cinemas, let’s take a look at the highlights of this year’s film list and the key points for grabbing tickets.
、025 marks the 130th anniversary of cinema. The festival features a special “130 Years Self-portrait” program, showcasing 9 outstanding films from around the world that reflect cinema's evolution. Among them, Quentin's “Inglourious Basterds” and Woody Allen's The Purple Rose of Cairo are definitely popular for ticket sales. Although Abbas's “Princess of Sirin” is relatively unpopular in his series of works, it is still a masterpiece of the master that you cannot miss. Watching such a movie in which the master points the camera at the audience during BJIFF will surely give you a different feeling than usual.

This year also marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Anti-Fascist War. In the “Cinema and Peace” section, Claude Lanzmann's epic Shoah (over 9 hours) offers one of the most powerful viewing experiences of the festival - retracing the dark history of Jewish persecution in WWII with emotional and physical intensity.

In celebration of Robert Altman's 100th birth anniversary, the “Retrospective” section features 10 of this legendary american filmmakers' finest works. Among them is not only the 4K restored version of Nashville, which is hailed as the pinnacle of his career, but also his biographical film Vincent & Theo for Van Gogh.

In addition, three new 4K restored films by Andrei Tarkovsky and two films about his father directed by his son Andrei A. Tarkovsky will be shown together BJIFF. If you are a fan of director Tarkovsky, or you want to know more about more aspects of his life, then you definitely cannot miss this father-son movie combination.

There are so many films worth watching that it is hard to list them all. The “Homage-Restoration” section includes 4K classics like North by Northwest, Green Fish, and Millennium Mambo. The “Screen/Off” section brings Hans Zimmer and Friends: Diamond in the Desert live performance. Midnight Madness offers thrillers like Se7en and Cronos. This cinematic feast is yours to enjoy, tailored to your taste.

This festival also features a special “Ticket Stub Economy” campaign. From April 18 to May 5, attendees can enjoy exclusive cinema-themed benefits at various venues including Langyuan Station, Donglang, MixC One, and Scitech More. By presenting a BJIFF guest pass or a ticket stub from any festival screening, participants can unlock these perks.
Then, there is the issue of ticket grabbing that everyone is most concerned about. The official ticketing platform for the 15th Beijing International Film Festival is still our old friend Maoyan. Without further ado, here is the ticket opening time:
Set your alarm for 12:00 noon on April 14 - get ready to grab your tickets right on time!
Annual reminder:
In order to prevent interference with ticket grabbing, fans are requested to complete real-name registration in advance in the “My BJIFF” section of BJIFF special page on the Maoyan platform before purchasing tickets.
