In the following decade, Zhang emerged as a renowned figure in the realm of screenwriting, becoming synonymous with excellence. From Dearest to The Island and Leap, Zhang Ji's name became a seal of quality, assuring audiences of exceptional storytelling. Leap brought him a flurry of awards, including Best Screenplay at the 33rd Golden Rooster Awards and Excellent Screenplay at the 19th Huabiao Film Awards. These honors serve as a testament to his outstanding creative abilities. Last year, the film Endless Journey for which he served as a screenwriter, enjoyed remarkable success, achieving both critical acclaim and box office success, while garnering unanimous praise from audiences.

Zhang Ji has diversified his role in the film industry in recent years. He served as a script supervisor and consultant on the films Coffee or Tea? and Cloudy Mountain respectively, contributing more unique ideas and depth to these works.
