Promoting the Sharing Era of Art with Dance Videos, the 2nd Beijing International Dance Video Festival is Concluded Successfully
The 2nd Beijing International Dance Video Festival (BIDVF) was held for six days, and closed on the evening of May 3. The most exciting highlight moment of the 2nd BIDVF-presentation of awards to outstanding dance videos held at the Yushe Entertainment Space inside BJCapital Langyuan attracted in-person presence of guests, elites in dance, film and television industries, and virtual presence of more than 6,000 dance fans.
  ▍A dance video festival for harvest and sowing
The 2nd BIDVF, comprised of seven sections, namely Screening Offline, Creation Limited, Dancing City, Forum, Workshop, Dance Video Exhibition and Online Screening, was held from April 28 to May 3, during which a dance video festival featuring art, entertainment and fun attracted wide attention from various walks of life.
The most popular Screening Offline section called for entries and received a total of 124 films from China, UK, France, Germany and Austria among other countries and regions. 12 screenings of 5 dance feature films were held in cinemas with 2,000 viewers. Approximately 80 films were screened offline, including more than 60 entries, 10 invited films and 6 works created in 48 hours under the Creation Limited section, attracting about 1,000 viewers; 9 Workshop session were held with approximately 500 participants present to learn about cutting-edge updates about dance videos and experience body secrets in person; the Dancing City section hosted 8 sessions of 4 stage plays, attracting approximately 1,200 attendees; 2 Forums gathered big names in the industry and attracted about 200 attendees; with theme of “Romantic Dream in Garden”, the Dance Video Exhibition was opening for 7 days, during which approximately 1,000 visitors were attracted, and about 200 visitors enjoyed live performances delivered from April 30 to May 3; and the Online Screening section is calling for one-minute dance videos via the Hivideo platform from May 3 to June 4, and will screen 10 award winning videos. As the longest section of the 2nd BIDVF, the Online Screening section tries to mobilize more dance fans to get involved so as to reach out to wider range of potential audience for dance videos.
  ▍The closing ceremony rewards those devoting efforts
On the evening, guests present at the closing ceremony included Li Weiqiang, Executive Vice President of Poly Culture Group and Chairman of Poly Pictures, Cui Yan, Executive Deputy Director of the BJIFF Organizing Committee Office, Deanna Gao, Chairman of the World Film Festival Chairman Alliance and Chairman of the Paris Chinese Film Festival, Cao Chengyuan, President of the jury for the BIDVF, Wang Longyan, Beijing Theatres Netline Culture Co., Xiang Yuqiao, Vice General Manager of the Guangzhou Dajiafeiyue New Media Co., Ltd., Liu Chun, associate fellow and postgraduate supervisor at the Dance Research Institute, Chinese National Academy of Arts, Wan Su, first class national choreographer, renowned leading professor included in Beijing High-end Innovative Talent Program, and final jury member of the BIDVF, Gan Lu, renowned Chinese documentary director and final jury member of the BIDVF, Liu Ji, first class national choreographer, associate professor and final jury member of the BIDVF, Zhang Yunfeng, Secretary of Party Committee and Executive Deputy Dean of the School of Creative Studies, Beijing Dance Academy, and final jury member of the BIDVF, Zhang Kejia, Chief Costume Designer of the former Political Department Song and Dance Troupe, People’s Liberation Army Navy, Li Hongshu, chief initiator of the China-Nepal Film Culture Promotion Association, Zhong Yonghua, CFO of the Hivideo APP, Sun Bing, Liu Zhan, CEO of the CloudBase Digital Technology Co., Ltd., Gao Huibin, Director of Operation of the Beijing Daoshenggen Art Co., Ltd., and Wu Jiying, Vice President of the Beijing Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce among others.
At the closing ceremony, the Beijing Dance LDTX troupe presented the In Search of the Grand View Garden, where performers were dancing quietly around the BJCapital Langyuan. Visitors scattered in small groups were immersed in the artistic atmosphere and enjoying the performance in the beautiful transition of spring and summer. Then, the performers gathered up from every direction in the open space in front of the Yushe Entertainment Space, led visitors into the theater and continued their performance on the stage. The first half of the performance connects dance with surrounding environment and starts conversation, while in the second half, performers appear on the stage in various roles, such as Jia Baoyu, Jinling’s Twelve Beauties, Buddhist of Infinite Space and Taoist of Boundless Time, or dancers or ordinary people. Based on The Dream of Red Mansions, the performance tells the story of a group of young people from modern times who break into the Grand View Garden, recite poetry and drink wine, sing and dance, and figure out realities of life through the dream.
 
 
The closing ceremony started with volunteer award ceremony. After the volunteer recruitment notice of the BIDVF was issued, nationwide entries were received. 48 volunteers were recruited out of more than 200 candidates in the interview round. They were actively engaged in preparations for and organization of various activities, contributing to the smooth operation of the BIDVF. 20 volunteers were named Best Volunteer. Ms. Xiang Yuqiao and Mr. Liu Ji presented awards to them and thanked them for their unremitting efforts put in the BIDVF.
The most exciting highlight of the closing ceremony was announcement of award winning entries. The following dance video works out of more than 100 entries won titles as determined by the final jury of the BIDVF.

The 2nd BIDVF delivered the appealing combination of dance and video to tens of thousands of audience, and became a platform for idea exchanges through screenings of high-quality dance videos and films, workshop and forum. Dance video creators brought us so many surprises. They told stories in body language, and spoke up on behalf of contemporary young people, especially young Chinese. Thanks to the support of all parties, dance videos are able to thrive like a seed with adequate sunshine and water.
