The spring breeze blows with the interweaved lights and shadows. The much-anticipated short video and micro drama competition – the Honor Ceremony of the BJIFF Short Video Section is scheduled to kick off at the Communication University of China on April 24, 2024! In this era where short videos are popular all over the world and the trend of micro dramas is surging, we adhere to the concept of "Short Videos Make Difference in World of Video" and sincerely invite creators from all over the world to participate with their works!

Every frame is a microcosm of the world; every story is a monologue of the soul. We hope that you can work together to create masterpieces, capture the colorful society with your lenses, and tell the various charms of life with your stories. Let us witness this grand ceremony together and open a new chapter in short videos and micro dramas!

The BJIFF Short Videos Section this year is themed with the Life and Living in Short Videos. The BJIFF Short Videos Section encourages creators to adopt new techniques and new concepts to record the beautiful moments of ordinary life and show the vitality and colors in life, tell Chinese stories, depict splendid civilization, and display the style of the times with the excellent short videos with warmth, depth, breadth, and highlights. 

The section includes multiple sub-sections, such as Review and Recommendation, Masterpiece Panorama, Master’s Workshop and Forum Series. The participating works will be reviewed and selected by authoritative experts, and the creators of outstanding works have will the opportunity to participate in the activities at the 14th BJIFF such as Short Video Panorama, and High-end Forum on the Cutting Edge of Short Video Creation and Industry Development. 

1. The runtime of the video should be within 10 minutes, and if the entry is a series of short videos, the number should not be more than 3.

2. The video should be based on real life, actively spread positive energy, and not involve pornography, violence and racial discrimination or violate the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China and social morality.

3. The video format of MP4 is a must, with optional landscape and portrait screens without watermark, and the size of a single file does not exceed 1G.

The jury will select the first prize, second prize and third prize for Short Video for News, Short Video for Life, Short Video for Knowledge, Short Video for Entertainment, and Short Video for Creativity. 

The short video section also consists of "Building Strong Community Awareness of the Chinese Nation", "Cultural Diversity" and "Civil Affairs in China" to select the annual short videos with the award of special honor in corresponding sections. Also, it will select the Most Socially Influential Work, Most Internationally Communicative Work, Most Valuable Work for the Public Good, and Best Organization, depending on the quality of works.

In response to the growing trend of micro dramas in recent years, the short video section this year has specially set up "Micro Drama Project Pitches" to deeply explore and cultivate the shining micro dramas. The jury will select the "Best Micro Drama of the Year" based on various factors such as the creativity, production quality and market potential of the works, to promote the micro drama on a new journey of high-quality development and create the shining pearl of new quality productivity, and lead the trend of the whole industry.

3. The entry time shall be subject to the time of receipt, and the Organizing Committee will inform you with selection results via email/SMS.

1.No fee will be charged for entries.

2. Short video works shall be entered by the short video creator or producer and distributor. The applicant must ensure the originality of his/her work, without plagiarism or borrowing the work of others. The picture and sound materials used in the work must not be involved in copyright disputes. The Organizing Committee, along with the host and the organizer, will not assume any legal responsibility.

3. The organizing committee has the right to use the trailers of the participating works no longer than 3 minutes for free for the purpose of event promotion; the organizing committee has the right to copy the participating works for document preservation and academic exchange, but not for any commercial activities; after obtaining the consent of the author, the organizing committee has the right to select participating works for screening and discussion during the event.
