DAY 3: Spring Light on Screen, Cinema in Full Bloom
On April 18, the 16th Beijing International Film Festival continues into its third day, as cinematic energy unfolds across the city in full force.
The highly anticipated Jury Press Conference will officially kick off the day's programme. A number of prominent jury members will appear on stage to share their perspectives on the art of cinema and reflect on their experience in the selection process. As night falls, the BJIFF Shorts Awards Ceremony will take place, honoring emerging filmmakers and celebrating a new wave of creative talents as light and shadow converge in a moment of recognition.
Meanwhile, the Project Pitches Final Review Roadshow enters its second session. A further slate of high-potential projects will be presented, engaging in in-depth exchanges with experienced industry professionals, as creators seek opportunities for their ideas to take root and move toward realization.
On the big screen, the official selection continues to draw strong attention. The Forward Future entry Raindrops on a Roof will hold its world premiere, inviting audiences into a finely textured and emotionally resonant narrative world. In addition, The Blue Trail, The Great Conqueror's Concubine, Wan Tongshu and The Time Traveller will successively host post-screening talks. Filmmakers will be present to meet audiences in person, offering deeper insight into the emotional fabric of their works and the historical and contemporary contexts they engage with.
Elsewhere, the "Frame Spark Youth Market" continues to attract steady crowds. Within this ongoing celebration of cinema and creativity, audiences are invited to move between art and everyday life, discovering moments of resonance, reflection, and shared passion.
